2. the military has no wireless network? and this only helps confuse the matter because don't you frequently GO AROUND THE WORLD, how would an fm tuner that changes stations when you cross a state line work in IRAQ? wouldn't you end up listening to...persian radio...the worst of all radio?

Wireless network is a major security stability risk.  I live on base where I have wireless internet but that means I'm also in my house on my computer where I have internet radio.

3. universities, hospitals, airports (diggity's imed from airports and besides why's this a point anyways you'd have your laptop which should provide non internet shit to do anyways if it's a significant trip), houses in almost any suburb, lots of fast food places. there are three wireless networks in my culdesac alone. where do you live man, I couldn't hit a city block in Raleigh without finding a wireless connection.

I don't live near any open wireless connection other than my own.  Besides, all the universities here have private wireless meaning you have to be a student and they give you a password to access it.

4. you've got to be kidding. you're getting an MP3 player that you will get bored of when you're jogging. most albums are about an hour long dude you're telling me you're just gonna jog through twenty albums or something and get bored of them and want to listen to some idiot who doesn't know math stammer about baseball players instead?

I thought we already established in the trip-hop topic that I'm music illiterate?  I buy maybe one album a year and the rest of the stuff I download based on internet recommendations, get bored of it, and then listen to radio or find some other internet recommendations.  My current play list consists of

a perfect circle/tool
dream theater
megadeth
gnarls barkley
some old outkast album
aphex twin

the latest album on my zune is st. elsewhere from 2007... every other album is like pre 2003!  i don't follow music at all because the music scene changes way too rapidly for me.  This is why every time you bring up some metaphor or turn of phrase using a modern musician I scratch my head and go to wikipedia then follow up with a "UR DUMB I HEARD BETTER."

I could have gotten something cheaper as any 50$ walkman has an fm tuner but now I get a tuner, movies, file formats that aren't restricted or compressed or require me to deal with a program i absolutely hate (itunes and microsoft store *shudder*)

the car when i cant listen to the ipod because driving with headphones on seems a little distracted? and when i'm not driving i dont listen to the radio anyway.

because other than that zero. unless it's online. in which case duh.

seriously dude do you listen to the radio outside of the car or when your dj buddy says "hey im gonna beont he radio listen in" and even then most are online and the ipod has a wifi so that can load that? i listen to npr podcasts but there's a whole lot of garbage on it too, basically down with traditional radio. its a really dumb feature that would make it slightly more expensive, take up a bit more room and battery life, and I'm surprised marcus thinks apple would ever include it let alone should.
i have a zune and i listen to the local college radio station all the time at home. i plug it into my tv speakers.

Don't need one.  I have this new player now and my phone is an alarm.  I also can't take it jogging with me.

Yep.  I got bad taste in music and I'm not afraid to admit it.  I don't know how you guys keep up with the music scene as I'm only hearing of bands years after they break up.  I didn't know who Kurt Kobain was until 2004 and this guy I worked with at a pizza shop slapped me (no exaggeration, literal open palm slap) when I told him what was playing on the radio (smells like teen spirit).

i have a clock radio, but see what i do is.......

it's actually just clever things i did with wires since i'm too poor to buy a receiver and my tv has no speaker-outs, so basically i have everything plug into my computer speakers (with a subwoofer and 4 speakers and full SuRRouND SouND or whatever, they're pretty nice actually) and my tv speakers at the same time. there are female left and right audio cables sticking out the front of my tv stand, along with male audio cables from my zune and playstation and a few other things, and i just choose which wire is plugged into what

it sounds marvelous actually so i play everything through it, not my crummy clock radio.

What? What kind of stations do you get?  Every American county I've been in gets the basics like smooth jazz, classic rock, generic rap, alternative whatever, and c-c-country.

We'll have like one top 40 station that repeats all day and then the rest are almost all country/gospel/church services

I think we might have a classic rock station but it doesn't come in very well and we don't have any rap stations probably because we hate black people too much to play their music.
