yeah it does. plenty of albums have shitty recording. I mean, SYMPHONIES dude why do you think those exist. Shearwater's first album sounds like shit compared to them live.

I mean maybe you are referring to ability and talking about SHIT MUSICIAN MAKING SHIT MUSIC but sometimes a bad recording can make a band sound worse, yeah.

that is not really what i care about in music.  what is the perfect album?  i care 100x more about songwriting than musicianship or show quality so whether they're amazing live performers is irrelevant to the quality of the music.  everyone can only sit in a studio for years and make the perfect album if you don't care about the quality of the songwriting.  once you do the amount of people who are able to create "the perfect album" regardless of how much time they're given drops to nearly no one.  i do not really care how well the douche from muse can play that shitty song he wrote in front of thousands of people because regardless of how good he is as PICKING STRINGS ON A GUITAR or how impressed i should apparently be that he is capable of rehearsing a song over and over until he can play it without fucking up and getting over his stage fright, the music is not impacted by this in any way.  it's still a bad song, but now it is just a well-performed bad song sweet.  i guess if you just sit around listening to music based on how good they are at their instruments then yes the ability to play a good show might seem pretty impressive

what is this just rambling?  do you have a point that is somehow relevant here????  i dont even know what youre talking about something about symphonies blah blah blah too bad a good show does not impact the quality of the music at all because a bad song is still bad regardless of how good a show they put on.

well duh I thought you were referring to recording quality as well though because I know lots of fuckin albums that sound like horseshit but are much better live.

but I don't think anyone is arguing a band actually IMPROVES in more than a sonic/showmanship quality live so yeah I think you are misreading people saying MUSE KILLER LIVER SHOWS with this idea they think Muse got better in a non-sonic way.

maybe.

I don't know I had brain surgery now I can't do math??

am i?  have you not met people who are like YES, YESSS LIVE SHOWS THEY RULE LIVE and this is the main reason they think a band is good despite stupid premise/bad songwriting/terrible everything else except maybe instrumentation?  we just had a convo like last week about how people's main justifications for ever liking a band as awful as kiss was "awesome shows"!  this happens and maybe i am misreading it in this specific instance but he said "people liked them for being good live" soooo idk man, that seemed pretty cut and dry!  i have no idea why else you'd like muse lol

i agree that the song writing part is more important than how well a band plays.

at the same time, i like going to concerts for entertainment. if a band is boring live, i probably won't go see them.
if i have a good tiem at the concert, i'd probably see the band as more 'fun' and like them more even if their music still sounds the same :welp:
sometimes, you need to quote yourself to feel important.

It's not just about someone pulling off every note in a song. When it's played live, you'll also get the
essence of the song and start to understand how the people who wrote it actually thought when
making it. I don't know some people maybe are content with interpreting (spelling?) a song personally
and don't give a shit about what the musician thought when arranging the songs (well you can get
some of it from reading the lyrics, but I'm talking about the "mood" of the music).

Also, when playing live, the bands are free to add whatever they want in songs, may be a tiny melody
that only a hardcore fan can hear and that's kinda the point. You'll get way more personal if you play
something live.

Feels like a dead-end here, so I'll stop here :P
People listen to music in different ways. I agree with you to some extent, but don't say that playing
Live doesn't add anything to a song.

edit
Damn you posting before me. Oh well. Let's get back to topic.
Also, I just realized that my post usually don't come out as I think. I might even need a brain-surgery.
Above, I don't mean that live is better, I just think that if you like a song, you might even like it more
if you see it live.

There. I'm gonna shut up now.

edit2
I'm going to be late for work thanks to you guys lol. THANKS ALOT

Yes it is the time of year for these crappy beginning/end of year lists. I divided my list into how good I thought the albums would be because then you aren't just reading a boring list but my opinion on the albums also. Try to do the same or I'll give you a warning because I don't want to read BULLETPOINTS OF NAMEDROPPING.

Really Looking Forward to in 2009

New Ghostface (duh), I think this will be very good for obvious reasons.

MF Doom and Ghostface project: See above.

Outkast: One of the best groups ever and they have been around for a very long time but always dropping consistent albums.

The Ecstatic-Mos Def: Have you listened to his album with Talib Kweli?? Its seriously one of the best albums of all time.

Eros-Deftones: I'm going through a phase where all I listen to is the Deftones at the moment.

Kinda looking forward to in 2008

Raekwon- Only Built for Cuban Linx 2: Well it has had about a million different release dates and has been constantly pushed back so I think the time for this album to shine has passed (it would probably have done really well in 2006 when it was gathering HEAPS of interest) but now days I think it won't sell very well and probably won't be that great. (I'd love it if it was but yeah).

Dr Dre- Detox: see above

New Between the Buried and Me: Colors was very good!!!

Cappadonna - Slang Prostitution (Chamber Muzik)- He's a Wu affiliate so I'm a little interested.

Uni5-Bone Thugs-n-Harmony: They haven't released a good album in nearly a decade and they sold out pretty hard on their latest but with Flesh out of jail hopefully they can come back with some passion.

The Blueprint 3- Jay-Z: It will probably be a decent album.

D'Angelo, Ginuwine and MJ as well. Although MJ will probably never come out.

Mastodon-Crack the Skye

might download

Eminem-Relapse: He's an annoying brat and this will probably be not very good since it was many years since he had stuff to talk about.

Untitled by Dredg: Wasn't too impressed with their leaked track.

I rushed this towards the end as I'm going out soon but yeah you get the point so your turn! I'll post more if I remember them because I know already I forgot heaps!

the worst part of this is I want to make fun of you for saying shit like HEH EVER HEARD OF...BLACKSTAR? but then I realize, no, GW hasn't and I'm all alone on my rappist throne.

I think that the first thing you should realize about those kind of people, is that they have a shitty music taste.
Who cares about the rest of their rantings, the only words in your head should be "shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste shitty taste".

That's the crux of the biscuit.

most of the appeal of the live show is capturing the energy of the band performing, and experiencing the energy of the crowd as well.  Some bands are able to capture this better than others, and its really just the mood of the show as was previously stated.  that being said though, i'd never go see a band live that i didn't like the studio material for anyway, because another part of the live experience is hearing the songs that you come to love in their studio form being performed in actuality with everybody else in the crowd experiencing the same thing that you're feeling , which is kind of a strange, communal concert feeling i guess.  whatever, anyways back on topic.

i don't know if its been mentioned yet, but ISIS are also planning on releasing a new album sometime this year.
so is dead letter circus, who are planning on releasing something in may
