@Neok It's about Sakuya and trying to make a moe sprite for her :>

I decided to try and start making facesets for my current project.

@Killer Wolf: interesting style. If you make every face in the game that style: thumbs up.
@Fallen-Griever: looks like old fashioned NES style. I would like to see a background/panorama on that screen.

Something new from ''Bang! Bang!'''':
the infamous "Shakesbeer Translat0r" troll topique (14 pg.)
the infamous "Women Can't Make Games" troll topique (18 pg.)

@Killer Wolf: The style looks good but I'd find a way to add contrast to the flesh color in the faces. It kind of looks like one big blob right now, and doesn't quite have that pro look to them yet.

Here's my first attempt at making a crappy charset and tileset. I'm starting to understand how tilesets go together somewhat but charsets absolutely kill me for some reason.
: \

The mountains and water are obviously pretty gridded and the color is too bright and contrasted. Also, as gridded as the water looks, it actually animates quite nicely.

And here's a campfire scene that I made in another project. I know..I'm super unoriginal for using Rudra charsets, but whatever.

I like the last screen, but I think you should change either the saturation of the front trees or the chipset, because the trees are too saturated and stands out too much, but besides that i think it's fine, good luck with your chipset btw :)

@ Killer Wolf: Some highlights or light source would be nice. Other than that, the features are well-drawn

@ Deacon Batista: The cliff that the guy in standing on is noticeably closer than the grounds he's looking down at, right? That's a good thing, because otherwise, you can't see the difference in level between the cliff and the ground down there. But it could be better if the cliff top or the ground bottom were a different shade to get the cliff's outline more visible.

@ Omcifer: Keep on practicing and develop a style. May take a while (took me 5 years to find mine)

I agree with Cray about the last screenshot.

I don't really post here much and I hate this account name, but...

Here are some screens from a gameboy-style RPG (no, I am not using RPG Maker ) with a rapidly aging + balding protagonist!:

The graphics are really influenced by a lot of those stock GB rpgs that saved me many a boring family vacation. I'm not really a pixel artist, but it's better than nothing, eh? :welp:

I only have a problem with the main hero sprite. Everything else looks great except for the main hero. The sprite looks to bland compared to the rest of the world.

Deacon Batista - I see what BusterBlade312 means about how the outline of the upper area could be a little better defined, but I really like the overall look. It reminds me of looking down on the battlefield around the barbarian town in the Diablo 2 expansion once you got high up into the mountains.

Omcifer - In the first screen, it looks to me like the terrain is in a top-down view while the character is shown in the pseudo 3/4 overhead view.

About the shading/highlights on my attempted faceset, the program has a feature that is supposed to "smooth" out the image - basically it just blurs it and does a low tech aliasing job with the background color if the palette is sufficient. For the guy, I kept smoothing the image and then redrawing in important details that blurred out too badly. I ended up reverting a couple of steps back because looking at the final product made me feel like my eyes were going out of focus.

The female one was done without any smoothing. They both have highlights, but I may have used a shade that was too close to the surrounding tones, I'll have to mess around with them some more and try a couple other custom palettes.

@Fighter: That looks really good! And our names are the same =(

Also you should play Noble Quest if you have never, it was a game Liberty and I made in a very similar style. It's RM2k3, but it's 100% custom and all game boy so maybe you'd enjoy it!

Good gameboy style there, Fighter!

I tried to fight an enemy group 6 levels above my own. I was slightly unsuccessful, but I managed to get this screen just before I died a cruel death by Voltage.

And hmm, I completely forgot to put the Viperfish in the water. Will do that right now!

W..Work faster. I can't wait to steal play your game!

Seriously though, I thought FF1 (GBA remake) was pretty cool - and I think your game have a lot of similarity to it (in terms of mechanic ex. job system) so yeah; finish it alreadyy

Wait, which game are you working on now?
Either way, they all look great (that video and this one). Nice enemy sprites.

Whoah, a lot of great customs on this page. Nice to see.

I must add to them:

Not much to look at but if anything this is a first draft of the area.

It's difficult for me to comment on the map itself since not much is shown, but from what I can see it does look alright.

Loving the text box though. It's very easy on the eyes.

@Ocean's Dream, your screenshots and the font remind me of EVO for SNES. I love it!  :fogetcool:

@ Fighter: Classic old days!

@ Ocean: I love it, it's like FF, but with your own unique graphical twist!

@ Nessiah: Can't wait to see the video version of the done HUD. How does it look with another battle background?

@ Lennon: I like the simple style with the humor and text. Is it RM2K/3?
