it is a pretty good remake. besides the new character, they've added combos to the battle system, redid the translation, new skills, new PAs and endings, and there's voiceovers for most scenes. the new voice actors are pretty good, too. new artwork too, and except for Rena they're pretty good. (rena, of course, has been LOLI-IZED, yet ironically has increased in age by a year)

ah, i've been playing this via emulator lately (for the billionth time). i was pretty psyched to hear about the remake, though the artwork is too stupid!! even the tv thing they did star ocean ex has better character design.

i juts looked it up too. the new character's name is "welch vineyard"??? like.. welch's grape juice... and... grape growht!?!? what!?

Yeah, instead of remaking them, Square-Enix got lazy and left the original backgrounds from Star Ocean 2 in there. First Departure is much better than this remake.

also i'm pretty far in to the game now, she doesn't look nearly that bad in some of the later cutscenes, but yeah. her voice actress doesn't even sound that young! the voices are generally way better.

no, it's not really. so2 is just a better game than the first one. in terms of QUALITY OF REMAKES then yeah the first one got a much bigger facelift (it was essentially ported to star ocean 2's engine) but this is still a way better game.

That is what I mean. SO2 is the best out of all of them, but SE still didn't polish this as well as they could have compared to the first. The PS1 version did have some terrible voice acting, and this one is better. Its soundtrack is also the best of the series.

The thing I liked the most about Star ocean 2 was that every time you finish the game the ending will probably be different. Every Star Ocean game I've played I got hooked on it, because the battle System was really fun to me.

You know the hero in Star Ocean 4 is named Edge Maverick, right? I can already tell the story will be.............................brilliant. TRULY original.

I just found out Star Ocean 4 is 3 discs.  Out of boredom I checked the boxart and the Japanese boxart is much better than the US one.

And yeah, you would expect something cool from the story of these games, since the setting is different from most fantasy JRPGs. But they never are and the characters look like DOLLS that have come alive. The cast looks very similar to the cast of Infinite Undiscovery but with a sci-fi look, I'm willing to bet the same guy did the concept art for both games. People who have played the game have said it is basically SO3 with prettier graphics (and it sure does look insanely pretty).

It probably won't be as good as something like Lost Odyssey, but it will probably still sell a lot.

Xbox 360 exclusive JRPGs should not exist. It is just... wrong.
