Huh? I think you guys are misunderstanding- I'm against the death penalty. It's because people were commenting on how people can be anti-abortion but be for the death penalty. I was playing the devil's advocate and saying if one HAD to choose one, they'd probably pick to not kill the baby, so you can sort of understand the person's logic. But I still think it's ironic that one can be pro-life and for the death penalty at the same time.

Omcifer- I'm not sure what you're upset about. Is it that I referred to fetuses as babies?

And magical n, I'm getting really tired of your personal attacks. If there's anything which points out a bad argument, it's one person constantly flinging insults at the other person rather than actually looking at their arguments. I get the feeling you're really just trying to start something for the sake of starting something, so I'm not going to help you occupy your time any further by responding to you.

which isn't the truth because it isn't a baby at the time an abortion can be legally preformed, which alot of people do not seem realize when they talk about abortion.

Did you miss the fact that he wasn't the only one who commented on that? Omcifer did too, maybe if more than one person is bringing it up it's not just a personal attack.

Velfarre, I referred just to him because he was doing it constantly in the university thread, involving swearing and name calling, and Omcifer hasn't.

Coxwain- I didn't mean to imply that abortion was killing babies- I was trying to phrase it from the POV from someone who would be in that situation (pro-life and pro-capital punishment) since someone who is pro-life will probably think of it as killing babies. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

except that's not a choice they have to make! it's not "you can either be pro-choice or pro-death penalty" they can be pro life and still against the death penalty. the people who argue that they'd rather kill a murderer than a fetus are making a stupid argument because they don't have to do either.

Right it's a bad argument, but it's one of the strongest ones that they have. I'm not trying to argue for them, I'm trying to show what their sort of mindset must be like. That's why I mentioned the irony of it still (that they are willing to kill one person but advocate for the life of another). No one is forcing them to make that decision, so it's simply unfounded that they should make that argument.

I'd say its more indentured work then slavery but the state could atleast send their families a bit of money if their work was worth more than what the prison system would cost for that particular person.

But then you'd have the state locking people up left and right for stupid shit so that it could make more and more money but we're already doing that now so...

As they say you pay the crime you pay the time... People like them should lose all privileges a typical human should as they did something so horrific. Let them do all the dirty work, I say. But maybe cracking the little whip more and none of this pussy community service picking up garbage shit.. I mean some hardcore shit like mining for resources, or building infastructures.

I never understood this whole idea of "you shouldn't punish people with death"... it lacks any real solid foundation in my opinion. ( the idea, not the poor application of it as seen in America.)

I think they deserve death, no questions asked but... I'm against the death penalty because I think death is way to nice of a punishment. I do believe in mental torture though, and hard labor for life(for those who are set to be in prison for life, not for prisoners who are going to be reintroduced into society at some point.)

Prison is so horribly done in the USA, as if locking someone up is going to have a high success rate for people who had nothing to live for in the first place. You need to REHABILITATE THEM, fear doesn't work on people who have nothing to live for.
