When we were in the Happy Zoo, she told me, in the most unequivocal terms, that the world would be an infinitely better place without the mentally invalid in it at all.

ceos are people putting themselves first. basically acting without a global conscience in general is bad and raging against PETA for wanting to expand that is pretty annoying and old.
I wouldn't equate capitalist accumulation to putting people first and I don't think appealing to vague universal ideals like 'global conscience' really means anything.

PETA has pretty self-defeating ideals that literally lead nowhere. If they'd drop their absurd absolutism and give newkirk the boot maybe they could direct their movement toward things like sustainable animal husbantry alternatives but they come at the problem with the line that "humans using animals is bad cuz we say so" they put themselves outside of the realm of working in the interests of society(which happens to consist of omnivores) in a simmilar manner that groups involved with the ELF do.

I've not been too keen on PETA because for a whole week those assholes ruined my smokebreaks by insulting me and being annoying pricks when I worked for PETCO in college.

I was compared to a nazi for working in a pet store.

speaking of nazis, this guy on TV was saying obama is a socialist and no one is afraid of socialism anymore but they should be because the nazi's were socialist.  :woop:

joooooe dont you know what im doing :(

you...you taught me...

also in all seriousness velfarre just goes so ridiculously over the top and she's been doing this with every topic where PETA is even slightly mentioned so I had to goad her out but now I don't think she wants to play anymore.

seriously they are just a dumb organization who are more or less effete. has PETA done anything in the last decade???

maybe I'm ignorant but other than occasionally making the news with a gimmick nope.

I encountered atleast one PETA, while I was eating a piece of "Vegan Meat" (it was a veggie burger I made with some of the Vegan Meat I got from one of my friends). I couldn't help but laugh at him in public for mistaking my piece of fake meat for real meat, and I promptly ignored him while he was screaming in my face and eating while he was screaming (which by the way, he looked like he was about to shit himself). Knocked over my drink, bastard. This all happened in a park, walking my dogs.
A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

i'm glad you were just goading her because this is a really stupid point to throw into the debate

also yeah PETA HATRED..... is almost really on the same level as the whole stupid ANONYMOUS VS SCIENTOLOGY thing. no one cares about peta, it's a pretty irrelevant group isn't it?

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

yes i think it is. it was popular for veg people a while ago, but they did too many stupid things that it's basically just a cult now. i know a bunch of vegan activist type people and none of them are pro-peta as far as i know..

they are pretty irrelevant with the exception of this super bowl ad thing, it's just sad that they're still trying and that people still buy into it

How does one do this vegan thing? Everywhere I look is meat, meat bi-product, or something similar. :/ Even this hot and sour soup has shrimp in it...

Substitutes, which you might have to scour places beyond your typical Safeway. You might have to start looking into small little grocers that specialize purely in produce. And theres the Vegan Meat I mentioned (could just be a Canadian thing), which is different from Tofu in that it was made specifically to have the texture (and similar cooking properties) of actual meat.

For places to eat out just ask around, there was a couple Vietnamese vegan restaurants around the city close to my home for example I wasn't aware of until recently.

it's very hard. i think i only know one vegan who doesn't live in toronto. there are a lot of vegan restaurants here and specialty stores and even the grocerystores and convenient stores tend to cater to vegans.
my friend out of toronto though has to order a lot of stuff online (deoderant, makeup, vitamins) and spend a lot of time cooking (usually from scratch).
