Why are you against zoos, why the fuck would you be against zoos?  Consider how many of the animals in zoos not only don't exist in the wild anymore, and consider how many of the animals that do have wild populations are constantly killed due to the governments of their areas not giving a shit about them, and then think about how many animals we wouldn't have if it weren't for zoos.  I know you'll want to come in and say "well yeah we should be taking more care of them and not killing them!" but the point is that it's too late for that, and fixing that problem will take lifetimes.  Humans have grown in numbers, and they take up the majority of these animals old habitats.  Until you're ready to kill the people living in the animals habitats (and no humans can't really live in the same spot of land as tigers sorry this doesn't work) then the best we can do is keep these animals in safe places for THEIR SAKE.  Fuck, most zoo animals love the shit out of their caretakers, and love where they live.  What is your problem with zoos because you are probably wrong.

If you're against zoos you SHOULD be against pets because it's the same thing on a smaller scale.  Explain to me how you can have one and not the other.

I'd honestly be against people owning pets before zoos

zookeepers have a professional obligation to take care of their animals but if the poor thing has a neglectful owner that just doesn't give a shit. Then that can cause a whole world of hurt. And that is 100x more likely to happen then a zookeeper fucking up because of all of the people that run through those places a day.

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with owning pets and zoos.  But there's EVERYTHING wrong with shitty pet owners and shitty zoos.  Just means those people are fuckups and shouldn't be used as an argument against either.

But PETA just thinks that we shouldn't "use animals for our entertainment and as slaves" so we shouldn't have pets or zoos.  We should just let cats loose to be killed by the dogs we're letting loose who will kill each other later until the loose bears from the zoos kill them and finally run out of things to eat so they start killing people in the streets.

This right here is the problem with PETA btw, they send a letter to YASSER ARAFAT to complain about a donkey but they don't give a shit about the people because "they're causing the wars" (as if every person who dies in a war is a combatant or has anything to do with the war).  They put animals before people, as if they themselves AREN'T people.  Fuck that shit.

I keep adding to this but it's hard not to when you remember all the shit about PETA.  Ingrid Newkirk specifically said that she would be against animal testing even if it meant a cure for AIDS, and the vice-president said that instead of "wasting money" on animal research we should just warn young people about AIDS, and it's an "easy disease to avoid".  ffffff Sure, AIDS is easy to avoid if every single person is tested for it and is honest.  Even condoms tear or otherwise fail sometimes, so they aren't 100% sure to stop it.  WARN PEOPLE about AIDS?  Who the fuck hasn't been warned a thousand times about AIDS.  I cannot understand these idiots ever.

zoos are one of the best things mankind has ever done, places like London Zoo are mainly for conservation now (it still hs Okapis and giraffes and shit to bring in the money) They're far more than look/laugh at animals these days.

Without zoos we wouldn't have a ton of animals around anymore.  For example, there are no known New Guinea Singing Dogs in the wild anymore, so if it wasn't for zoos and people who have met the screening requirements to keep them as pets (they aren't technically domesticated but as long as you raise them carefully they are as gentle and tame as any other pet dog) there wouldn't BE any anymore.

I've agreed with everything else you've said but this. There are millions of people trying to stop the wars and literally almost no one has said anything about animal casualties. Honestly I doubt there can be that many, but when zoos and the like are blown up, its obviously predominantly animals taking the hit.

fffff with so many goddamn babies dying in war, I really don't give a shit about the handful of animals killed in wars.  Of course PETA isn't fighting for the human casualties, but to send a fucking letter to Yasser Arafat over a donkey when other things are going on is just a fuck you to the people dying in wars on any side.  PETA doesn't care about human lives, that's a FACT.  The problem isn't that they didn't send a letter to Yasser Arafat about the people dying, it's that they went out of their way to defend a single donkey despite the people dying.
