I thought I was still a fan of FFIV, IV, VIII, and IX (though to a lesser extent), but I guess I must hate it if I didn't get roped into liking Dissident for what it intended to be instead of what I think it is.

If the post was directed to me: Never said anything like that at all. I simply mentioned that the game has been getting positive praise by the people who actually played it, japanese or not. People on this board tend to go with the argument such as this to counter it:

The people who took the time to import it were planning on giving it a good review years before the idea was ever thought up

That's true, but it's also impossible to do that if everything still makes your brain melt when you try to play the game.

From what people here have said it's just a button masher with FF slapped over it.  What's so fun about that, especially considering you could play the exact same game without FF somewhere else?

yep thats the only issue I have with it. nothing to do with the fact this is yet another example of intellectual bankruptcy at its finest, or Square's new policy of "never make an original game again".
