i haven't even heard reverend bizarre i was just answering to him that if he wonders why it did good in finland it's because we seriously have really awful metal scene (some good bands too but sweden for example has so much more better metal) and finns like awful metal in general. don't reach your own conclusions.

i wasn't dissing your list either i just found it random and i wasn't so sure what you were listing. favorite bands? and there was some good shit there for sure, i love neurosis and devin townsend and edge of sanity are pretty good too. i haven't heard most of the artists in your list.

and i LIKE metal if you haven't figured that out yet, if you read my posts i have been defending the genre.
Finland has had quite a few good bands it's just it's not in the "popular" types of metal. Hell you guys had Thergothon and Skepticism which were pioneers in their time. Btw, I know you like metal but at the same time, it seems like you're not defending it that much but I did skip a few posts in the topic. Metal right now, as in what's popular is pretty dead imo anyways.

I <3 metal a lot, although my tastes have expanded far beyond it in recent years.  I mostly enjoy stuff from the sludge/doom/stoner genres as well as a lot of the more extreme genres of metal.  For those of you that don't enjoy harsh vocals, check out traditional doom stuff or gothic influenced bands like The Gathering, Type O Negative, and Tiamat.

Metal CD's that you all should check out...

Anathema-Eternity
Down-Nola
Electric Wizard-Come My Fanatics
Forest Stream-Tears of Mortal Solitude
The Gathering-Mandylion
Godflesh-Streetcleaner, Selfless
Isis-Mosquito Conrol EP, Panopticon
Jesu-Jesu, Lifeline EP
Katatonia-Discouraged Ones
Kylesa-To Walk the Middle Course
Nokturnal Mortum-Lunar Poetry
Pelican-Australasia
Pig Destroyer-Prowler in the Yard
Trouble-The Skull
Tusk-Tree of No Return
Type O Negative-October Rust
Xasthur-The Funeral of Being
YOB-The Illusion of Motion

<3 metal here's list
Cool bro but we just got done saying lists are kind of lame! You aren't even pointing out what you like in those albums... making your post just another dumb list.

im listening to metal right now!! new mastodon album and it's fucking awesome, been listening to it a lot for the past few days. too bad the last song is still missing.
HOLY CRAP I AGREE ON EVERY LEVEL. Despite the missing last track, Mastodon's Crack the Skye is amazing and in my opinion is waaay better than Blood Mountain. Anyone who likes metal/sludge should get it.

Also, Ocelot, you should check out X-Japan as they're quite similar to Maiden in many ways, just with a veeeery Japanese singer who attempts to sing in English, orcesteral elements and epic piano solos. Art of Life is a good album (although it is just one 30 minute long track), you should check it out.

Same galloping-style guitar rhythms, very similar vocal style (voice is different though) and some really solid guitar solos. That is everything a Maiden fan likes as well.

Ooo ooo ...
I love metal.
Everything from Europe is gold; Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, Gorgoroth, Mayhem, yatta yatta ...
And from America: Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Obituary and ... well, that's it.

Oh crap, and Agalloch. I LOVE Agalloch.

Hence: "quite similar to Maiden in many ways".

i've been listening to the only harvey milk album i have heard, their recent "life... the best game in town" and it's really great. you should check it out. it's like sludge/doom metal or something but a lot more fun and weird and interesting.

Holy crap, another Forest Stream and Trouble fan. That's pretty rare among metalheads hehehe. I must say, I prefer Psalm 9 to The Skull. Those Electric Wizard, Pelican, Anathema, Katatonia and Type O albums are all extremely solid. Xasthur on the other hand I find really meh, I've found many bands that I personally prefer much more than Xasthur (Anti, Coldworld, Drudkh, Monarque and many others)

I enjoy sludge metal and all variations of progressive metal. Occasionally I'll listen to some weird black metal.

And now the namedropping. Raise your hand if you know of / enjoy these.

Callisto - Noir (atmospheric sludge metal)
Njiqahdda - Nji. Njiijn. Njiiijn. (psychedelic black metal)
Persefone - Core (progressive death metal)
Giant Squid - Monster in the Creek EP (progressive sludge metal)
Year of No Light - Nord (sludge metal)
Continuo Renacer - Continuo Renacer (instrumental jazzy death metal)
Subterranean Masquerade - Suspended Animation Dreams (progressive metal)
maudlin of the Well - Bath (progressive metal)
Augury - Concealed (progressive death metal)
Sculptured - The Spear of the Lily Is Aureoled (progressive metal)
Empyrean Sky - The Snow White Rose of Paradise (progressive death metal)
Oblique Rain - Isohyet (progressive metal)

And whoever mentioned Symphony X earlier in this topic: I can't stand them. Too much power metal and cheese in them.

Wasn't this the point of this topic? "Yeah I like metal too." Makes for a pretty boring topic.

Guys this is my Last FM results. I listen to lots of different types of metal, from pagan to melodic death, viking to prog.. There's lots of different metals around, enough for everyone's taste. I think I'm pretty open minded with musi :)
