some guy in my grad seminar last quarter started telling everyone about finntroll one day and I was just shocked and awed that someone his age would still be really into that stuff. he was a pretty normal dude too, maybe he just had a really weird sense of humor but yeahhh...

and then the professor (an asian american who speaks a shitload of central asian languages) turned out to actually be really really into scandinavian music, especially stuff from iceland like sigur ros, mum and bjork and shit so it was a really baked and weird discussion lol

Finntroll isn't that bad, I admit they're pretty terrible but at the same time their music is rather really catchy which makes a lot of people like them. That plus the folk metal trend = Finntroll wins. I went to see them live for free and they were pretty decent. Nothing great but they weren't terrible like Samael or something of the kind.

Also, why is there so much love for Wintersun? I just gave their album a listen and I found it really frickin' boring and nothing really spectacular about it
