WAIT A SEC

Read 2 lines into your first post

My parents are divorced too you don't need to use both parents' income. USE THE LOWER INCOME! This is REGARDLESS of whoever claims you. Call if you want to verify this.

I got a 0000000 EFC with FAFSA. Works me wonders.

EDIT:
It doesn't take 4+ weeks. Took me about a night. Get your dad's tax returns, and use that. You have enough time. Are you filling out any extraneous papers? Because when I took the work to my girlfriend's mom (she works for the school district), she pretty much said some of that paperwork is irrelevant and just had me fill out the online application.

Who cares how long the processing time is? It doesn't affect you. As long as you submit the forms electronically by the deadline, you should be good. Yeah, you still have to make copies of your 1040 and W-2 and non-custodial parent shit and mail it to them, but I think as long as you send it the actual e-form by the deadline, you're good to go. You can always bullshit stuff to best of your knowledge and then submit a "Correction FAFSA" as soon as you can with the REAL info.
Shit what you had to send in a follow up verification form? Didn't see that anywhere. Where does it say that? Also, shouldn't they have access to that information anyway?

By the way, my mom makes around 26 grand a year, and I got 0 EFC (Estimated Family Contribution), which is a-frickin-awesome. With your dad making 9, there's no way in hell you won't get money. Congratulations on being poor!

EDIT:
Congratulations on your acceptance, by the way. I got accepted into mine (UCSD), too, and after FAFSA it's about 8 grand a year. I need information on loans, etc. Also, do you guys think it's worth it? I think the FAFSA can get me community college for free, and my state has a 'tag' system which pretty much grants me a spot in the CSU and UC schools after I finish community college...which would save me money. Should I do that instead, or is there any pressing reason for me to go straight up to a university?

Anyone know how much money you can get?
The college that I'm going to is $30,750 a year for the fixed rate tuition plan (price won't go up in the future), and I get $19000 from the school per year as a scholarship. My EFC is 0 and I'm planning to mooch off my parents unless I find a really cheap place to live.

go to community college, juris.  it's cheaper and iirc you wanted to get into ucla right?  you'd have a better chance of getting in after acing a couple years of community college i bet.

man that would be so amazing to be able to go to UCLA

I wish I was a resident of the state of California so I could have free tuition to an awesome school

I was thinking it was a better idea, too. I still need to do more research though -- if I can get into UCSD without having to pay off loans when I'm 40, it might be doable. I still can't decide whether it's worth it though. Yeah, I'm leaning towards community college.

Yup, UCLA's up there on my list -- I've got a lot of friends there. I still have to see the campus and everything (god I HATE the drive up there). I'm also considering Berkeley. Unfortunately they're both not going to release acceptance/rejection decisions till the end of the month. I'm glad I got into UCSD though, because I know the place better, and it's much closer to family. As much as I want to get the hell away, it's good to have this to fall back on.

As for RedScythe's question, I can't give you the exact number but if I remember correctly FAFSA got me 5 grand. They're updating the finance report just now so I can't really check. It might depend on the school, by the way, because for some reason the SAR I got from the FAFSA report doesn't give me an exact number, just my EFC.

Yeah, I think I'm going to contact the school because I only get an EFC as well. The school's site says to login and check on their site but they don't have any information. It's unfortunately a really crappy school but its the only one out of 4 I applied to. And I got rejected from an honors program at another school so I decided to just go to the one that I have a scholarship for and that's close to home.

Is the experience worth it?

it took me a few hours to fill out the fafsa? also if they say the deadline is april 1, that means you have to turn it in by april 1, not that you have to turn it in so that after 3 weeks of processing it'll be april 1.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

:) My girlfriend applied there (I think she got in). Big deaf community up in Rochester, and I was about to do that too -- except she decided to stay in California because she gets benefits from the school district here. I actually applied halfassedly to Rochester University because my debate coach had some 'connections' up there (used to be a state superior court judge for NY). But then I looked at that $50,000 fee and went "FUCK NO." Didn't turn in the rest of my application. That, and I'd freeze my ass off up in NY.

But yeah, I don't know. You applied to both places already, right? I'm sure they're sending soon.

I'm already IN and GOING to RIT so.................

I just want to know what possibilities I have to do movie shit and not waste a year of computer science.

i would agree with this buuuuut when i was looking into the UC system schools, basically every source said that UCSD had a weak social life.  like, apparently it was just a bunch of commuters or something?  and also ULTRA SERIOUS ASIAN KIDS who did not really have much in the way of social lives.  and then everyone went home on the weekends.  these are probably exaggerations to some extent but again, since literally everything i heard about the social experience said this, i don't think it's too far off.  the COLLEGE EXPERIENCE thing is great and all but it only applies if you go to a school that's good for it.  i don't think it's anything to write home about if you're going to a school of commuters/people who go home on the weekends who all take studying really seriously or w/e.
