I bought this game a few weeks ago, and initially I loved it, but the game began to have some serious problems for me and I ended up trading it in. My gripes:
-Game is way too easy. With a good recharger for your shield, and having a shield that regenerates your HP, every enemy becomes easy. I understand the second playthrough is tougher, but WHY don't game developers just let you play the game the FIRST time with a tough difficulty. Obviously you'll enjoy it more, and they should make their games so that the first play through is the best as it can be. I never got this mentality with games, and yet the problem is so prevalent.
-Little to NO interaction. The game has like, 5 NPCs you can talk to, and even then it's very limited talking. I understand it's a desolate wasteland, but so was Fallout 3 and it had amazing interaction and NPC depth.
-Sidequests are horrible. Almost every sidequest I went on was a fetch-quest: "collect the 5 skulls in that settlement" "kill the 10 bandits in that settlement" "shoot off the 5 Rakk poo off the wind blades" man, can that get boring FAST. Especially when everything's so easy, it's even more boring.
-Also, the insane LOOT the game boasts to have is pretty much a lie. It's essentially the same 10 items, with different stats. 80% of the stuff I found, I couldn't pick-up cause 1) it was ammo that I was stocked up on 2) didn't have room 3) was crap. It was annoying to keep opening up every little thing with rewards being very occasional.
Blah, the whole game was a bad intro for me to a western open-world RPG. I picked up Fallout 3 Game of the Year addition, and man, it is infinitely better. So challenging, it seriously is a SURVIVAL RPG, amazing. Also, it has like 200 hours worth of gameplay, when Borderlands had like 30. 30 hours is not enough for a open-world western RPG.
