is it true that the longer an animes name is the better it is and the more you can pronounce it the more your peers accept you?
hah yeah it seems like it based on the series i've seen :P although i'm pretty sure it's more unusual to have a sentence-long title than a short one. the two i mentioned are the only ones i know of with titles that long. they just happen to be really good in my opinion.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni = When the Cicadas Cry (or just "When They Cry"). horror/psychological/sci-fi?/drama/comedy. about little kids killing each other, in plot. but in theme, it's about working together, friendship, and hope. it's good. :]
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu literally would mean something like "The jungle was always Sunny, then came Guu" (it's a pun--the main characters name is Hare/Hale, which means "sunny"; and the other character is Guu, which... means goo?) but i've heard it translated as "Sunny With a Chance of Guu". in the English DVDs, it's just called "Hare + Guu" (but i prefer the punny, original name). it's just an absurdist comedy with really silly, great art and animations. sometimes it makes fun of serious animes, however it does have some aspects that can "hit home", hah. it's probably the one thing i would recommend most to people who don't normally even like anime.
In my day, we threw women in the lake to see if they were witches...
also: Do your parents know/approve of you watching things like elfen lied (where if i remember correctly the first episode is a naked woman exploding people in the bloodiest and most violent ways defenitely AO content there)
yeah my parents know of it but they haven't SEEN the series or anything. and also, the first episode is the most violent. there's not really anything equal to it in later episodes, and i thought the series as a whole had a great story, good art, etc... it wasn't just about the blood or the nudity. that stuff was just added as little details to make the show more appealing to young men. that doesn't mean that the basis of the show is adult though; it is sad and cute and i think that anybody could enjoy it if they get past the flashy extras.
