Respect is useless to the dead.

That said, I'm oddly thrown by this. Probably because he's actually inspired my last few songs.
Or maybe I subconsciously believed him to be too artificial to be able to die.

Meh. At least there are parts of him that will stay with us forever.

Maybe, but the respect we show them is for our sakes just as much as theirs.. Its the idea that when we die, the same respect will be shown for us which I think is comforting to know.

it's not for the dead it's for the living people that gave a shit dude

maybe that doesn't mean much for michael jackson because i doubt anyone coming to gw is that horribly hurt by this but that is what respect for the dead is about in general

Not bugging the family of the deceased with nonsense and insults should not have to be 'respect'.
It should be common sense.

I guess I'm just a bit weird for feeling death is over dramatized by a lot of people. (yeah, I know that
sounds perfectly insane).

Apparently it's genetical. It's like how women have a higher life expectancy that men for some reason.

It's said that it might also have something to do with cultural background, though in MJ's case that's
probably utter nonsense.

As far as I know, it's just an average. There are too many exceptions to think much of it.

This is really sad. I feel like someone I knew personally has died. That's how famous this man was.

I never really liked Michael Jackson as a person or as a musician (can't stand 90% of his music or more) and his death has no emotional impact on me at all, but I do feel bad for his family and his fans. Considering the following he had attained and all of the success he had, it certainly is a tragic loss.

LOOK HOW AWESOME HE WAS.

yeah, a bit unexpected. It's not even like a person has died, to say "Michael Jackson is dead"...I'm not sure, that name is so synonomous with epic globe-straddling success and fame. It's very odd. I like his music very much.

When I first heard he was dead I couldn't believe it. I know I like some of his songs and not a big fan of him but for some reason this just left something weird on me.

Ah well...

I also couldn't believe he was dead. It's extremely surprising. I guess his heart just couldn't... beat it

So my twelve year old brother called me at 07:00 in the morning and told me "Hey, Michael Jackson and one of the Charlie's Angels died.". I thought it was weird.

Yeah I found out about this pretty late. And was pretty shocked but at the same time kind of numb about him. Like I don't think he was a bad guy. In fact I love a most of his music. I concur with everyone with this "strangeness". I feel weird about his death as well.

Off-topic: I always thought the fact CorporateGreed's GW user name is "CorporateGreed" said plenty about him already... then again it could be an ironic name.

The only michael jackson music worth listening to is his old motown recordings
