i'm mostly playing pokemon right now, it's been so long since i last played gold or silver that it's almost like a brand new game for me.  the additions are nice, and i even had fun playing the gay little minigames with strangers over wifi.  i think g/s was the highlight of the series since it was like r/b/y PLUS A WHOLE LOT MORE.  i also don't feel like i'm bogged down with a zillion pokemon i don't know.  i also really like the pokewalker, since it actually serves a p. good purpose (i caught a fuckin' kanghaskhan on it shortly after getting the first badge, my life couldn't be more complete).  unfortunately you can't really shake it to get points unless you do so really really hard which is more tiring than walking so yeah you actually have to walk, but i walk a decent amount anyway so it's not a problem.

so overall thumbs up for this game, i don't feel like i paid for a game i already had at all, i think there's enough different about it to make it well worth it.

i would think this

except

i tried catching a kangaskhan the old fashioned way on fire red a while back to transfer to diamond.  i tried for a VERY long time and never caught one.  i thought "huh, but i know i caught one as a kid, it can't be impossible".  then i realized that i originally caught one using the cinnibar island glitches and never caught one properly in my life.

i don't really think it matters anyway, you can get any rare pokemon you want as many times as you want through the gts so rarity hardly means anything anymore.  on the plus side, i love kangaskhans and now i get to have one and early enough to actually use it so this is excellent

edit: i always put too many h's in kangaskhan

I was thinking about picking up the new Pokemon silver, but I never finished Pokemon Pearl for my DS, even though it's probably my favorite DS game I own. Hmm... I should beat that...

Since i don't have any of the newest consoles I'm not on the FF XIII bandwagon right now. Don;'t forget there will also be  Agito and VS in the compilation. Am currently playing an RM2k3 game called Mistmoore Genesis... the guy who made it said I could do a bit of arevamp after playing if i wish- I'm at least going to spell check IF I can get it to open in the maker!

Ugh I played through Chapter 1 of FFXIII and my PS3 froze.  Still plays DVDs fine, but all PS3 games freeze up after like 10 minutes.

Looked it up and nobody seems to have any idea what causes it.  Awesome!

Got Uncharted and started playing it. Currently on chapter 3. I really like the puzzle and platforming elements, but I really hate FPSes... What percentage of the game is FPS? Is the game more of a shooter than a platformer? (I was hoping that it wasn't). I just wish I had the option to stealth my way through certain areas, but it looks like I'm forced to just shoot everyone in sight.

If the first is like Among Thieves chances are that theres only a few actual pure platforming sections, where as the rest is gun play, and gun play mixed with platforming.  Although in Among Thieves, there where a few parts that you could stealth through(sneaking up and taking the enemies out in a certain order, and time it right), and on the hardest difficultly you had to.

Haven't played the original, so I can't give you a good answer

I have a feeling that it is most a shooter with platforming aspects, though I'm not a valid person to listen to as I haven't completed the game.

ALSO has anyone here played Metro 2033 yet? My Steam doesn't unlock it till Saturday, and I really really want to play it.

i picked up perfect dark. it's strange playing it after all these years. i still think the game did a lot of things well. it handles really well for a shooter, and the weapons and they way they work is really spectacular. damn near every subsequent shooter tried to throw in some wacky alternate game mechanic, or just wasn't particularly fluid in how the controls work, but i still think perfect dark works really well. it's really basic stuff, but they executed it all so well.

still, i can't help but find the game disturbingly boring. for me, there's not an awful lot to be nostalgic about in the game. the level and story design is really deplorable, and while the gameplay variety is nice, i don't really find any one thing in the game that interesting anymore. hard to feel nostalgic about the game's controls, which is all that really holds up at all. it's hard to resist comparing it to older generation stuff that made its way to xbox live arcade like rez or castlevania sotn, both of which hold up for a wide variety of reasons, particularly how worthwhile and inventive their presentation and visual styles were by ANY standards, not just the ones of that time. they really are as immersive and enjoyable now as they were then, in part because nobody has improved on what those games did. can't say that about perfect dark. too much has been done with first person shooters since that it's hard to really look at this game as anything but awkward novelty. anyone who thinks perfect dark is some pinnacle of first person shooters is just kidding themselves.

it's a shame. i was crazy about this game back in the day, but the magic is gone. i expected it would be to an extent, but i thought i'd be able to have a bit more fun with it. i last about five minutes doing any one thing in the game before getting bored enough to do something else.

Realized I still have a 50 dollar check from my grand parents so I used it to pick up Bad Company 2. Played a little of both Campaign and multiplayer.

BTW: its good thus far but I have a few nitpicks about the controls:

Why can't I Sprint at any other angle other than straight forward? I miss being able to sprint off diagonally in MW2.
Also can't have more than 2 key's to a single action. Its driving me nuts.

Non control issue: Also Wish there was a tad more control over class customization.

Also, is there a straight Team Deathmatch? or are there only objective modes?

Even though MW2 doesn't have lean, I actually think this game needs it more. I've never felt the need to lean in MW2 for some reason, but when I'm playing BC2 I feel as though I would have benefited from it. oh well.
