Yeah jamie, that was mostly the impression I got when I watched other people play FFXIII aswell.

But then you have to ask yourself, is it entertaining to you enough on that basis alone to warrant you taking time out of your limited life to slog through hours upon hours of repetitive, uninspired game-play just to go through the story far enough to take pleasure in how little it makes sense?

At least with stuff like Tim and Eric: Awesome Show (great job!), it doesn't matter how much or how little you enjoy what it offers you, because regardless of how good or how bad you think it is, it's going to be over after 15 minutes anyhow. I've personally decided that's about how much time I should ever spend when it comes to capturing how desperate and incoherently inept this world is. (Sure with FFXIII it's unintentional, and you simply can't get that kind of honesty with most parodies, but I just can't get past the whole idea of enjoying any single parody enough to muck through playing an entire jrpg to get at a slice of it.)

Although to your credit, I did play a lot more of FFXII than I would have for that exact reason, but it was much less satisfying to me because I couldn't even follow anything about what was going on when I was playing that game. (although I did personally enjoy how they put so much emphasis on what they thought people liked about final fantasy stories, that it became a story that made itself nearly impossible to follow.) You do only need one though, which is why I don't have to ever play FFXIII, because even if it does do a much better job of rolling all that pretentious bullshit into one giant glossy shitball, it's something I've already been well acquainted with.

Has anyone played Portal 2 yet? I got my copy yesterday for $30 at Best Buy and am very pleased. The single player storyline is hilarious (yet surprisingly moving), and the co-op is very challenging. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys FPS games or puzzle games. If you've played the first and liked it, get it now and lets play!

EDIT: (Looking back at Hundley's post) I can agree with a lot of things you said - and when I saw the teaser trailer some 6 months ago I was getting excited that there would be outdoor environments and the like. While there are many new varied environments (underground chasms, manufacturing districts), you never truly leave the Aperture facility.

Now just realizing the ~15 posts already made about this game. lol

portal 2 gets a lot more interesting after you're done with the test chambers, i guess hundley didn't play that far? it's a shame it takes 5 chapters though, the first hours are way too monotone even though many of the puzzles are pretty great. i'm enjoying portal 2 (i'm in chapter 6) but i'm not nearly as impressed by it as some of you guys seem to be.

yeah but then you just get to CAVE JOHNSON'S TEST CHAMBERS and after that you get to WHEATLEY'S TEST CHAMBERS neither of which are really fundamentally different from what i've seen. just mild variations on a theme. actually i found the test chambers preferable, as the parts when you're out in the open were pretty much just hunting and pecking as you try to find the one space you are required to place portals to proceed.

Bioware need to have an elcor squad member you can date in ME3.

Edit: I suggested this to Dr. Ears on Steam and he's gone all quiet now #elcorphobe

Edit Edit: In googling hot sexy elcor pictures I found this http://tijil.deviantart.com/art/Elcor-Retirement-155528763

Bahaha, the reason I went all quiet was because I was busy finishing The Witcher.

On that note, I've finished the Witcher and I'm not sure what to play next from my backlog. Probably won't start anything major though, because The Witcher 2 is releasing on Tuesday and I was to be free for that.

i'm just having a wee shot of final fantasy 13 for a minute because i played this last year and i remember just enjoying how baffling a lot of it was, why the heck would anyone make the decisions the makers of this game would make? anyway it's still really funny, if you're in the right mood for it.

i like that snow walks alone down a wartorn path and mumbles things like 'we're the only hope these people have...' and 'Heroes don't need a plan!' over and over again to himself. cool. he seems totally insane. i think this game is a little endearing to me because of the specifically vacant and mathematically predictable way it is insane. i'm not going to play any other jrpgs to get a sense of or marvel at this kind of thing, because this one just takes all of that ridiculous shit and rolls it up for you into a big stinking, glossy ball.

seriously, i'm not saying i like it. or maybe i am. i don't even know anymore. playing this just seems too crystalize something about all of this area of media/entertainment. like playing it makes me want to make some overblown flash cartoon where you take all of the elements present here and chop them up into even more incoherent, garbled parts while introducing stuff that SHOULD seem out of place but probably won't because nothing makes sense at all.

there's a shop. you buy potions there. it's called 'unicorn mart'. another piece of the ubiquitous, rancid debris that we are swimming in. we are swimming in it.
ahhaha jamie are you sure. are you sure you want to complete that game or even waste hours on it? you see jamie, your post tempted me to check some cuts of the gameplay from youtube. before i knew, i was watching the walkthrough of it. i never guessed that i would watch all of it. it's been two days now. i finished now at 2 am. are you really sure you want to do it? 'cos it's gonna take longer. it's gonna be hella boring and nothing in the game makes sense. can you do it - private jamie?

as it stands, i am not recommending this game to anybody. perhaps to people who i have pretty low expectations on anyways. it's not even entertaining. think of dark chronicle/dark cloud 2 rehashed. that was some beautiful piece of shit wasn't it. hint: the team who made the latter did FFXIII. FF13. consider yourself warned... up. *smiles smugly*

hahaha are you serious ramci? you checked ALL THE CUTSCENES? wow...

and yeah, it makes absolutely no sense. my favorite parts are the sazh and vanille scenes when sazh activates his summon or whatever and the ending. both make about as much sense as rami on midsummer day (notmuch).

I spent a solid week staying up till 4 am playing that piece of shit because I cannot stop something I start and it was torture. What the fuck happened to final fantasy :(

last one I played was ten and it was stupid yeah but it still had some redeeming qualities. I'm pretty sure if I was tripping on mushrooms I would still be bored to fuckin' hell playin it.

Playing Brink. The reviews are pretty much entirely right about the game but I'm enjoying it nonetheless.

Finished Brink storyline, so now I just play a couple multiplayer games every now and then. The Witcher 2 is released tomorrow so that's pretty much what I'll be playing for the next few weeks.
