Oh god, I understand now. I understand my friends who spent all those hours on those F2P games...

Double GP, today alone played 16 hours (with short snack and bathroom breaks)... My brain is goop.

The last game I played (and completed) is Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

I don't quite understand how they can get such good production values on a console game that make PC games look relatively stone age. If you consider a PS3 has 256MB of RAM and a pair of 7900GTs (equivalent) it's miraculous. Never played a game which has practically zero loading time between game scenes so much so that there's just a horizontal swipe across the screen in changing scenes like a movie transition.

They pretty much followed the same formula as Uncharted 2 but that wasn't a bad thing, it was a truly enjoyable game and one of the reasons I'm glad I got a PS3 over an 360 (That and Metal Gear Solid 4).

Ed my only beef with Uncharted 3 is there is no real boss.  if you look at the ending most of it was quick time  it only made you feel like it wasn't by given you the final shot with a gun. But that was well done move let me put this as an example Wet was a game that ended it almost like uncharted 3 (talking about quick time events) but Failed to be what it wanted to be. First it over hyped you to think this last battle was going to be a blast and when you got to the end of the game quick time events and compared to the rest of the video quality some how feels reduced on the ending like it should of took another 100 renders for being shipped out and the feeling of no control at the end, made you feel like shit. At least Uncharted 3 made you feel like you did something at the end and hell you probably weren't expecting some epic battle since hell it was just an old lady that acted like a prick and and assassins. RIP talbit.

It's beucase Most game engines are produced to be cross platform and as such have to work on the lowest common demoninator, code is shared across all platforms and as such don't work to there most efficent, so you can't squeze out as much performance as you want, so you have to lower the graphical fidellity of the game so it can work on all systems without compromising performance (or so they hope).
It's why EVE online can look so beautifull without compromising on performance, it runs on quite a low spec machine but can still look good, even with whole fleets on screen and running fraps in the background but games like boarderlands runs like shit on the same computer all becuase the person has an ATI card (true story).
Drakes uncharted and last of us look amazing becuase there built just for PS3 platform, meaning they only have to code for one console, they can use all kind of tricks to draw out all the machines capabilities without having to comprimise due to shitty code that allows it to be cross platform but at reduced performance.

p.s. I FUCKING HATE SCALEFORM

Does Deus Ex:HR have a lot of bosses? That's something I'd actually support. I love boss battles, if they are done right.

HR does not do bosses right.  idk if you've ever played the original Deus Ex, but the moment I realized I truly loved the game was when I snuck in a back way to the the room where this dude who's been pumped up the entire game as your equal is sitting.  the dude is an augmented soldier who's bad as fuck, and it's been signposted multiple times that you're going to have trouble with him.  instead i went in through an air duct i had no idea lead to that room, saw the guy sitting in the center of it, and shot him in the head with my upgraded sniper rifle.  that was cool.

in deus ex the first boss is this idiotic dude who you have to lure near exploding barrels and then shoot the barrels (there are other more tedious ways to kill him, but the barrels are the quickest).  imagine a zelda boss with a flashing weakpoint, and then imagine it done poorly.

there aren't a lot of bosses, but there are enough where it's a serious pain in the ass any time you have to fight one since it totally takes you out of the game.

Well I think Uncharted 1 and 2 did boss fights right and they where only 1 in each so I wouldn't of mind a boss fight at the end of Uncharted 3. But let's be honest the story would of had to change.

Well really I meant that the boss isn't "Bad Guy with larger HP bar" or something. I can see why the example you give could be tedious though.

One thing if you guys don't know: the boss battles in DE:HR were outsourced to another development studio, that's why the bosses seem so much different gameplay-wise from the rest of the game, and why for the most part you just run-n-gun them.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

Think I remember reading about this somewhere, why would a gaming company do this? creating boss battles really much different from creating the rest of the game?

it's deal season on steam and amazon

so far i've picked up the THQ pack...

Metro 2033 was fucking god-awful.  worst sort of modern rail shooter.
Space Marine is dece, but idk if it's really my thing
Red Faction Guerrilla is fun for short 20 minute bursts of blowing shit up.

i don't regret paying 2 dollars a piece for them, but i wouldn't call any of them good games

i also bought puzzle agent 2, which has really bad puzzles, but at least wraps up the storyline

steam is an inherently gross experience.  it's the strangest bit of late capitalism, where this jubilee culture erupts around the ability to purchase digital copies of games that you will never play for cheap.

I'd both agree and disagree. I've bought a couple of bundles that included games I'm not incredibly interested in. but the vast majority (98% or so) of games I plan on completing. AND WILL.
