for some reason that cover creeps me out bad - like you turn it on and it's horrible harlequin baby images instead of light-hearted cartoony NES game


for some reason Salt looks like an ok movie to me - not like good Cannes film festival award-winning movie with lots of accolades but like every action movie for the past 10 years has looked pretty gay with some exceptions but those movies always have to be something different like I guess Bourne Identity defines the modern action movie a lot but basically it's supposed to be like "intelligent" action movie but it's still all car chases and kung-fu anyway. It's like people have forgotten to make a big dumb action movie that is like sort of pornographic but the action movies now are just as big and dumb but they just make me feel all wrong inside because they have some sort of internal conflict and nobody can do anything self-indulgent anymore imo. I don't know only movie I can think of at the moment is RONIN that's like probably a weak excuse for a shitload of chase scenes (if I'm wrong and it has best storyline evar please tell me) Like I like how the plotline to Salt makes no fucking sense and is probably based off something written during the Cold War and I dunno it just looks kind of old for some reason. There are obviously like cool fx shots but also just kind of NORMAL photography like shit don't I have this movie on videotape somewhere? Like Hollywood finally realized like there are limits to how you can film things and this ultra CSI post-processing images making each frame have this perfect anime sheen over it is getting kind of old. I do think somebody was saying all movies have to look like videogames now I actually saw one or two shots in commercials for this movie that just looked like movie. Like whoa Salt can be talking about something against the backdrop of some city and it can actually look like a real city instead of having this Metropolis-looking sheen over it. If I said SHEEN twice sorry. Like I am very interested in movies and videogames and how much of the time you like don't need to direct at all like I was saying to R. back in the Playstation days they weren't really going for realism more for telling the player THIS IS A TREE. concentrating on the features of trees instead of this weird idealism of what the trees would look like in this fantasy world. I got off topic but like it looked like some of the shots actually didn't idealize everything so much and it was just like 'Salt is in a hotel' not Salt is in some super-awesome hotel like actually leaving some OPENNESS instead of having this seamless vision of something that's just so unreal and weird

not that Salt will be amazing movie but it's like the first movie in 10 years that hasn't looked like what I'm talking about. I blame CSI and Sin City (wasn't there supposed to be a sequel to that 27 years ago) but yeah not every movie is on a blue-screen constantly but I think every movie now gets treated/color correction in some way? So I'd call it CSI vision

I saw these unused/alternate scenes from transporter 2 on the DVD one time and they weren't retouched and it was fucking freaky it actually looked like a movie not this ultra-saturated alternae universe (between CSI and this movie I am convinced Miami has nuclear colors all the time)

Also Bourne Identity is supposed to be realistic but it's still all gritty like INTRIGUE universe and makes Europe look depressing I'm sure it's not always depressing that bothers me just as much

were there any videogame movies that were just kind of normally filmed like it would be cool to see MAX PAYNE but filmed like The Departed or some random crime movie like that that isn't trying to be visually weirded out

Edit: I realize this Salt is probably retouched like everything else but it doesn't look like AGGRESSIVELY so like uh Angelina Jolie was also in Wanted compare that movie side by side by this like this movie actually gives you a sense of where you are and other stuff that like I dunno seems necessary to me to make the exciting things exciting Wanted looks like bullets cars yellow puke all over the place everybody has hepatitis

Still having trouble coming to terms with Soulja Boy - 'Anime' days later. I'm in denial.
