I found it funny how your game is so close to mine. I almost picked that same game name...

Essence has gone through many name changes. It was called Essence of Life but I shortened it to Essence just because lol.

Glad to see this thing is still going.

Here is a new piece... actually it's old. But here is a newly updated piece ^_^ This is Essence's prelude. Now, there is the actual prelude within the game, but its not the main prelude. The secondary prelude will be played in parts of the game. This is more or less the title screen theme.

Please, for the love of God, don't let this game suck. With music like this, and considering it seems a lot of work went into it thus far, it had better blow my socks off.

VERY nice- I will admit i was a but thrown by what seemed to be a few "off' notes, then surprised when the tune went in unexpected directions. Oh., and like the site, but please spell-check the legends

I did not read the storyline, I am not a fan of final fantasy, and I do not like games that are based on very popular and infamous games; !!!HOWEVER!!! This game looks absolutely fantastic! You've got the spirit! I will get more into it when I'm not half asleep... :)

I haven't updated the thread in a while. Well, I have a lot of updates (sorta) to show off! Firstly, I have a new scripter. His name is Atoa. He's a really really great scripter from HBgames. I have stuff to show off! Now, I quoted it from HBgames. So here is what he has to say:

As stated before, i'm one of the new members of Final Fantasy Essence Team.

I'm here to show some of in-development systems of the game.

They're screenshots from the actual game, they're not mock ups

The main menu with Xander Face. (all character are using Xander Faces because his is the only finnished)

Equip Screen (100% not finished, the help will be moved bellow, and above will be added equip, opitimize and remove all options)

Battle screen of an actor attacking

Battle screen of the command window.

Battle screen showing an back attack

Thanks!!

really when you think about it this game is a better adaptation of the SNES final fantasy style than Square's own attempts, like the SNES-ized versions of 1-3 for NES

I mean the games were pretty enough but it actually BOTHERED me how they felt kind of contrived fake Squaresoft SNES style. I guess it looks a little better on Playstation

If you say "FF Essence" it tends to sound like "FFS", which in turn tends to be the attitude of the average RPG Maker community member. I like good FF fangames though, and this looks promising. Looking forward to it, I am!

Title Screen animation by Atoa =) Enjoy!

Oh and there will be 2 trailers to come out soon. And a demo by October most likely. Not a demo of the game, though. The trailer will consist of that.

I meant the remakes for FF1-3 for GBA, not for NES if nobody caught on to that. That shit reminds me of RPG Maker 2000 graphics ironically, just like, nice enough but who gives a shit
