It's best to meet people in real life. Going onto okcupid or plentyoffish might work for some people. But trying to find someone compatable through likes/dislikes and crap IS Crap. It's not about that. That's just icing. Met a girl once on okcupid. It didn't go to well, so maybe I'm jaded.

i have never and probably would never try using the internets to meet the ladies, but I could see why it might work for some people.

I met my wife in a library which is probably the best place if you can pull it off 'cuz its wholesome as hell.

Bars can work depending on the place. My friends and I have met quite a few really cool people at some of the more low key cafe/bars around here. Meeting people at grindfests blasting jeezy vocals over an MIA song at a deafening volume just doesn't work.

ON TOPIC as a ginger goatee'd gamer, online services are more suited than night clubs since they're probably not going to play metallica. night clubs and dating sites aren't designed for long term relationships though, clubs are designed to sell drinks (they want you to keep comming back for one night stands) and starting a relationship based on a handful of pictures and stats inherently lends itself to casual sex/baseball card trading. shopping is a good place to meet women. generally not clothes shopping since a man in a womens store/department sends certain signals but like music and grocery are pretty good and you can find out if you have similar tastes directly
