Don't know how to tell you this but not liking you doesn't mean I like other people. ;)

memorising moves and combo lists just isn't fun for me sorry guys.

it's more like saying you like racing in racing games not memorising the track and equipment configurations. i actually think tekken is one of the better games because you can still win with basic kicks, punches and blocks.

chess sucks when people memorise moves too

it's like a freestyle rap battle vs a rap battle where the opponents have their lines memorised. except the lines are stolen from other rap songs. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT'S LIKE

yeah the fun part is playing not learning how to play imo

idk i like tekken but i dont bother memorize the moves either. granted i don't play online or with people who are good at the game, but i've played countless tekken games with friends and we'd just play random characters and mash buttons like crazy. i can't get into other fighting games but tekken is actually friendly when it comes to that.

i know some moves and sometimes we'd look through the command list and try stuff but i just cant bother memorize them. this extends to other games with combos. i'm just saying its possible to have fun without taking it seriously, chess isn't a bad example.

i beat all of scenario mode without realizing you could equip items. actually i tried but i was equipping items on p1 and it turns out if you press X when selecting character you get p2. the latter stages were really hard. it was kinda fun though, aside from the dumb story and a lot of repetition. come to think of it i dont think it was really fun...

its like saying you like making music but not playing instruments properly

this is great because i actually love playing the drums but i'm entirely uninterested in studying how to play them (i can't play the drums)

but if you're playing drums in the privacy of your home alone (or with a few close buddies), then who gives a shit how it sounds as long as you guys are having fun?


if i walk by a piano i'll often sit down and roughly play the monkey island theme and me and my friends will have a laugh about it but that doesn't mean i'm inherently wrong for doing it.  on the other hand, i wouldn't have a PIANO RECITAL.  i'm having more fun playing a shitty melody than taking piano lessons for years, because i'm not interested in it to that degree.  that doesn't mean i DON'T like hammering out a melody when i come around a piano though.  it's basically casual vs hardcore, but just because you're casually playing a game doesn't mean you don't LIKE IT enough

Don't know how to tell you this but SF4 and GG have combos too. ;)

no way near as long and crazy as tekken's :P plus i hate SF4 if that has stupid long combos

sf combos are pretty much always 4 -5 hits MAX, where as tekken's are far longer. and GG, i dont actually remember, as i haven't played it in ages.

no i wouldn't, i'd look like someone that didn't know how to play drums playing the drums. if i did well i'd look awesome for an amateur, or he'd look poor. all in all i don't think i'd have FUN

like i can understand playing the game and getting better and better, but a large element of tekken is studying 20 button combos. it's not nearly as bad as the old fighting games but in my free time i find it much more fun to actually play games than study long strings of shapes and directions?

how is that similar at all? the thing i'm talking about would be closer to the written test for your learners. yeah sure it'd be fun again once you've learnt them all but learning them isn't fun, and playing against someone who's learnt them isn't fun unless you've learnt them yourself. it'd be much more fun if neither of you had learnt them
