- It's a basically a huge 9.7" iPod Touch
- $499 for the 16GB model without 3G, $829 for the 64GB with 3G capabilities, and other prices for models in between.
- Doesn't have USB ports, Flash support, or a camera
- Another fantastic product for the upper-middle class to find an excuse to purchase!

considering i do not own an ipod touch or iphone this is actually kind of tempting, but i wouldn't want one until they had sold a few and people had time to HAVE PROBLEMS

but really for $500 that's p. good, it's just that chances are i'll have bought an ipod touch before these things have been used enough for me to consider buying one

edit: also i would wait for them to put in usb ports that is kinda dumb apple!  at least flash support can be added later.

they showed it playing HD youtube clips.

it was really underwhelming for how HYPER engadget has been about it. it's kinda cool but i'm not sure about how practical it'd be compared to say, a netbook. especially when the reader format is some FOB file or something i've never heard of.

Yeah "underwhelming" is the word I was looking for. I would still rather have that 12.1" HP laptop where the screen folds over on itself with a stylus and pop-out remote. Best of both worlds.

i still think the way forward is a dock or something that changes a cellphone into a more robust device. i like the form of this but it's still never going to fit in your pocket, and when you get to that next level of portability extra size doesn't matter as much. as in, you'll already reserve a certain amount of space for an item of that nature, i don't think this would fill it up. here's an example, a desktop computer, mini tower or midi tower doesn't make much different. a credit card that's 3 times as thick doesn't make much difference. i can't think of many situations where you'd use this where you wouldn't take up just as much space as you would with a laptop, though if it were flat on a desk it'd be hard to type on.

Don't they already say "iPad" in Boston?

I dont understand why anyone would chose this over a netbook.

10 hours video playback is pretty incredible if it's true. there's some really cool aspects about this but at the end of the day it's not very exciting right now

I honestly thought the whole apple tablet rumors were just part of an elaborate disinformation campaign perpetrated by apple in order to make every other company waste time and money designing impractical devices so they could launch something revolutionary and useful
