also,

breaking bad is excellent. really really good with only a few bland storylines but even those ones are very well written. i remember earlchip mentioned how there are a few slower personal episodes early in season 2 for walter, and there are, but while these are slower paced and really unpleasant to watch (walter has become a monster), i liked the way it was written. it reminded me of my own relationship with my girlfriend a little so i thought it seemed realistic!

however, the episode where saul goodman was introduced. holy moley. i just watched that. that was really really good. jesse is clearly the guy to root for now. walter is just hell all over, he's turning into a really bad guy, but jesse actually has a chance and i really hope he turns out okay. all the storylines have been good, hank has turned out to be a great character who is scary and pitiful at the same time. i don't like how the women are sidelined in all the excitement, but hopefully that will change.

edit:

also, about walter. i've been really interested in watching how he lies. he is obviously getting more used to it, he does it every day now, and huge lies, but i am excited for the moment when he cuts the crap and is honest about who he is now. like, when he drops the bullshit nice guy dork attitude and reveals to his wife and son 'yes, i do alot of bad things, and i don't care'. not even necessarily about the meth dealing, that would be too much, but just about who he IS. it's frustrating to watch him still tell the same lame lies he did back in episode 1. like, he is rotting at his core but keeping this husk of a person on display for everyone else and i think that is why he has lost my sympathy, if he would be honest about what he is now i'd be more willing to sympathize. i mean i still love watching him, it just feels a little like we are being shown all the least interesting sides of this black hole person at the moment.

edit:

okay i might be ready to watch the next episode now. the last one was so entertaining i wanted to take an hour and do something else to cool off first. i'm about to start episode 9 of season 2.

just wanted to say, when the issue of walt's health is raised toward the end of that episode? i had a wee cry. this is a very good show. i think he's in the bad stuff now though, i don't think he is getting out. and him punching that metal box at the end was great.

i knew it. walt's clean health is making him go more crazy. he is so deep within the pit now, and he is attacking anybody he thinks he can reach, including his brother in law hank the dea agent holy hell.

cool glad you like it jamie!! I've only seen season 2 once when it was airing, I should watch it again. I remember that episode you mentioned was good, and from that point on it's interesting seeing how walt handles things now that he's gotta be

there's only two episodes left of season 3, but unlike previous seasons I don't have the slightest idea where this one is going to end up. I mean what actually happened at the end of season 2 was surprising and all but it fit in with the issues walt and jesse were having. but with this one I'd imagine it'd have to be something with Gus or Saul if there's gonna be a season 4 since the season 3 spoiler already

i didn't read your spoiler yet earl but sorry i need to say more about walter.

walter is the worst fucking person in the world. he gets off on exerting control, that's pretty clear by now. i mean i am fascinated by his transformation, and it's been really well done, but while walter started off as who you thought you were rooting for, it is pretty clear he is the empty pit now. every choice he makes hurts somebody, and he loves it every time. like watching him continue to pour booze into his sons cup last episode was so horrible man. it was just about him beating hank, and he didn't care about his son at all.

so walter is a scary guy.

it's a good show. i could write alot about every single character, and i will.

Also I've heard good things about a show called Red Riding, does anyone know if it's any good? It has good reviews but that could be just the generic response to anything Grim And Gritty.
naa red riding was pretty good television. i'm not sure whether you should watch it first or read the original novels though

the second spoiler shouldn't be read until halfway through season 3. actually I'm just going to delete it.

I don't think walt is the worst person in the world. I mean right now he's obviously a total monster but I think one of the major points of the show is to humanize all these characters and show how people can change. you'd think you'd never turn out like walt, but you don't know. walt never thought he'd be killing people and not giving much of a shit as long as he gets his way. and walt was not a bad guy at all in season 1 episode 1

breaking bad is actually really good for a serial drama tv show. Bob Odenkirk's character Saul Goodman is really hilarious and I enjoy everything about him.
