I kinda liked it when some things were just BLOWBRUSHED on the paronama/background! Like i didn't agree at all with KillerWolf? or whoever it was (though i understand if it's a wip). Like it made this kinda hazy or childhish/sloppy quality to the screen (wha, what's that- oh i see i guess... i GUESS??) and i liked it. Like uh not everything has to be intentional/crisp clean hd quality/ like uh it gave it a bit MYSTERIOUS quality, it's a perception issue... like not completely (*artist blows on critique* it's a interpretation!!!) but uh sublimely i guess. my first thought was that yeah -maybe- define the 2nd organge thing but ahhaha leave the rest childhishly blown... don't worry, these are just rambling/free-form thoughts about it, just do what you want.


EDIT also it's pr cool, before you defined the background (some kind of jungle), my mind had already figured out/imagined what the world/background is (totally oppostie of jungle)

Both screens look really good, YDS, but the top one seems just a little off. In the bottom one, the palettes for all of the components are really close together. Everything fits together. In the top one, both the character and the trees look really superimposed.

I think the first screen looks a lot more... isometric or something? goes into town and SUDDENLY EVERYTHING IS AT RIGHT ANGLES. But yeah reminds me of all those Enix games like Illusion of Gaia that weren't actually made by Enix but was the sum of their output in the US during the SNES days

and I kind of disagree with killer wolf because I like the amount of contrast in the first screen better


also lol at JRPG farmers doing farmwork like they're trying to kill something with BATTLEAXE

so maybe I should post some screens:

 
been trying to pick up work on my own project... and things have been shaping up nicely. i haven't done much but just work on backgrounds, but it's progress. background not done*need make door sprites for one thing*, and will add remote control holding sprites soon since it's hard to tell what's actually going on right now
 

and hey since it's halloween soon heres another WIP one, maybe i'll take a gameplay video soon or something??
 
edit: holy sweet mother of otaku i just programmed dynamic cherry blossom leaves!!!! will make a video of it_!

and also that video. first gam play that shows almost nothing. just so you guys now i have waaaaayyy more done than the walk cycles ;) in fact, i have one animation, 99% finished, 40+ frames long. used only once in the entire game. that animation? undressing and putting on a gym uniform. Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing with my life. Then I remember- I'm making games.
