I just realized I have no idea what NBC advertising is trying to go for, is it supposed to be cute, smart, funny, dramatic. Well there was this news ad they had at the train station and it was all like, I like what other networks (not NBC) are doing and try to make like this weird perverted RPG Maker custom menu version of news shows in the 90s, like a meta-version where it's almost like a saturday night live sketch of what everyone thinks a news program is supposed to look like or a music video with fake news/The Onion/somewhere I heard porn stations have like porn version of the news?. Giving off that whole faux-AUTHORITY feel like 'you must get the news from us/also TV news is an essential public service in the year 2011/like weird information-y authority figure integrity sort of look and NBC is like 'we want to exploit the NBC peacock/rainbow to appeal to hipsters or something but we need to do it in combinations of colors that don't look like we are saying something about gays'
I'm not even sure what I'm talking about really
gah
http://www.capacity.tv/process/nbc-more-colorful-case-study/my favorite style of promos is still the way Fox always did it (character from the show is in some abstract dramaspace and gives an intense look/chuckles at camera and/or has their hair blowing from some unknown source of wind)
I know this is obsessive this is more of a 'I could do advertising better than those guys' post
