sw really is an interesting phenomenon. people talk about the glory days of gamingworld back in the 2000's sometimes, which I *think* is when bunches of people were making RPGMaker tilesets and joke's and whatever, which was all before I ever ran across this place in its incarnation as saltworld in 2011 or something. I guess if bakley: shut up an jam gaiden came out of that environment, they had to be doing something right?
but I actually really liked the fact that when I ran into sw, here was this semi-abandoned forum where leftover people were collecting bits of treasure from the trashheaps of 1990's Electronic Media Empires. it sort of had the feeling of an abandoned playground where the cool, weird teens hung out and did cool, weird teen things. or maybe a ghost town that still sometimes sees the odd traveler pass through, to loiter for a while and leave behind something cryptic and occasionally really beautiful. it kinda amazed me that there was this little pocket of people making surprisingly lucid comments about how shitty and bourgeois-masturbatory TED talks are or sometimes releasing these really raw, subversive little games (like mastaba snoopy, or anything by the catamites) that spoke to an aesthetic that I think you're hinting at.
I was actually talking about the modern sw as it is, with you involved in it as well as the oldies. and i guess i mainly talked about how... sure, there is this fascination for this truly outsider quality in old vidiagames (well said, the last 5 posts) but i think some kind of
depth to idk art?? life?? has come out of this cos otherwise we'd be doing glitch joke youtube videos and more self-serious indie games in orange and teal with blocky graphics etc., are you kotaku or videogamesreview101?? Choose Your Princess, Naked Princess Sim 2002...
anyways, I think the whole subject of gw/sw is complex because it used to be a big part of loner outsider teenagers gathering around rpg maker and there was some enthuastic mutual community elements like steel/tristero (rip), targ - lit art and heated intellectualism-striven arguments and stuff. but i kinda feel bad for you guys cos you have to be apologetic for the whole glory days - thing and what the fuck does it amount to really? like i do like old gw'ers and bonds and stuff etc but we do get these sporadic reminscing topics talking about nothing in particulary from time to time and it's crazy, cos you gods denquiz maroonraccoon are some coolest and actually productive people for good while...I think you are part of dis patchwork/a wall filled with cool graffitis, i'm enthuastically on your side...
