The tower is just beyond the spawn over the hills and the house is further west from the tower on a nice cape. There's also a small mining outpost north of the tower not featured in the screenshots.

Those shots look good. I need to get back to playing on that server again. (If you see a wooden house that looks like a chessboard near a bunch of snow, that one is mine.)

Question: is the only way to get grass to grow underground by exposing it to natural sunlight before covering it up? I've found this great spot for a underground grotto, but I still gotta work on it a whole lot more.

yeah I saw that house, looted it bare. looked pretty nice, had a good egg farm going on when I passed through

grass requires light from any source to grow, and it needs to be next to an existing patch. the dirt patch can be like 1 block above or a couple blocks down for grass to spread to it

Server has been down a whole day now.

Yeah, it has been down both times I've tried to get on.

I don't mind though, I've been really busy lately and don't have the time to distract myself on this particular game.

I'd still be playing if I could get on though. I think the reason the grass patches in my underground grotto aren't spreading is because I'm not putting the torches close enough to them. It is weird because I have a glass roof over them, so I figured they'd spread more quickly in the daytime at least.

Maybe I should craft a compass so I can attempt wandering about in search of pumpkins.

i don't know if you mind having an OUTSIDER / non-active GW member on the server but i have a friend looking for a place to play. he is pretty cool guy and won't grief your shit or do anything stupid. (username chyka)

ohi folks. i pay for fairly underused minecraft hosting with a couple of friends, however there are some disputes about playing style. (ie I like to play legit minecraft and a couple of them are more like MODS, UNLIMITED ITEMS , FLYING, YESSSS).

i don't really like exploring a world full of LAVA SUPERSTRUCTURES and autogenerated spheres and shit, so if there is interest here (by which i mean desperate minecrafters) i would consider some RESTRUCTURING on said server and getting some legit minecrafts gonig on D:

I'm totally into playing legit without cheats and stuff. But if you let me on your server, there's no guarantee I'm not going to be dead-set on making crazy giant structures that inexplicably leak lava from any available orifice. (I still got the blueprints drawn up for a giant stone head I want to make to eventually cry tears of lava back when the GW server was up) I'm not really up for the item-grinding and chest hoarding that all such endeavors must require for "legit play", but it's still far more interesting than working on just a 1-player world.

So with that aside, I do feel silly for having paid for minecraft and not being able to play in a world with other people in it. I'm sure you won't have much trouble getting more interest from people visiting this topic regularly so the sooner you have it up for us the better!

-we're going to have a world restart within a week from now, so i'll wait till then.
-there will be a few other people on the server as well but they will all also be pretty cool people.
-we may (probably) allow some un-legit shenanigans (yet to be determined) with a few etiquette rules attached as to try not to fuck up the world, and not interfere with the enjoyability of people who just wanna play some legit minecraftssss (eg. me)
