i don't know. it looks like support was dropped, but perhaps I am not understanding how to do it or there's a plugin involved?

Just weightmapped the soldier dude. Gonna see about boning him. I have an old assault rifle model around here somewhere, might do a short animation. Might have something to post later this afternoon.

just finished my first project! sort of gave up halfway on the texturing, could have made it a lot more detailed and what have you. still, i'm pretty proud. i'll hopefully go back and redo the textures.

trying to keep up with the running skull motif going on here.... sorry catamites... heh







i used basic shapes and just changed the vertices which is a bad way to do things so ended up with a few hundred polys or something, but i'm still learning and i think i've caught the "bug" now

Cylinders are something that the current gen games still have jaggies on. They're so god damn hi-poly.

not remotely lowpoly and probably unusable for games but if anyone wants to have a blast playing around with 3d stuff you should all check out Sculptris. It's free and has zero learning curve and inbuilt paint program and is basically just a big virtual ball of clay for you to tinker with, its really good. heres a deformed head i was messing with (the weird left eye is because i slipped up with the grab tool and didnt notice til later :/)
 

 
EDIT: actually i think i saw someone say they imported their lowpoly models into sculptris just to use the paint program! i tried it but theres apparantly a restriction of four vertices per each polygon in the model so idk.

I played with Sculptris once, the idea of making 3D objects like clay was really awesome but in the end it's hard to make more than blob monsters with it.

I played with Sculptris once, the idea of making 3D objects like clay was really awesome but in the end it's hard to make more than blob monsters with it.

Yeah I think the idea with things like that is that you import a lower quality model made in something else and sculpt all the fine details in sculptris.

Yeah, I had a lot of fun mucking around with zbrush, but never got much of anything done with it. I'll definitely check out this new app just to see what's different about it.

I'm already starting to really dig the interface to wings3d, so if it's easy enough to import models from that program, then it will be more than ideal to me.

Man that landscape thing reminds me of something I want to try out with Minecraft and that Cartographer application. If you export a heightmap you could potentially import that into a 3d program to create a landscape.
