hahaha I love how that whole debate completely turned around. I think the whole thing is very biased now because of all the emulator/PC screenshots you can find now, FFVIII probably looks great in 1024x768 but in 256x224 or whatever Playstation resolution was I remember it looking very muddy and stuff and WARPED CLOUDS enclosed in a globe but the globe is only 10 polygons in resolution so the clouds are shifting jerking at these awkward right angles it was basically a moving Francis Bacon painting with 5 min. summons as far as I remember some distorted Squall face in a fixed expression does some pose that looks vaguely magical. The FFVII comment is spot on though it was like those 3D WINDOWS DESKTOPS windowscube I always hear about but I guess is still for guys who are 15 and have super heat-cooled Alienware computers and could play Crysis at max graphics in 1997 like if those had 3d icons meant to represent FOLDER etc. or like your party in FF7 is literally a bunch of fighting MSN guys made of spheres. The untextured look always looked like a lot more polygons to me because remember you probably played it on a 3-inch TV set back then or something. Once you add textures it's kind of obvious how it bends suddenly on top of that Playstation had all the texture tearing/warping anyway

everybody do a screenshot of your models faces with the camera inside the person's head/inside-out view. This is always instantly the freakiest-looking thing, inside-out 3d models of faces. This happened unintentionally to me once in Metal Gear Solid 2 during the final battle inside-out Solidus face and it was the scariest thing ever

I remember when that Tomb Raider game came out on PC (I think the one based on the movie???) it was full of insane graphical glitches and sometimes the camera would just be in Lara Croft's head and you could see her stretched out face with what looks like a ping pong ball cut in half to make her eyes.
I love this hobby - stealing your mother's diary

george jones died for our sins.... also yeah i agree and i hope to start animating for them and using this stuff in games soon!

also yeah ragnar you can just export this stuff right into unity and apply the texture and you can put it in a game. unity has lightmaps / particle systems etc too (also i think the polycount limit is much higher than what im trying for?? space marine from cover to directx software box suddenly crashes through mystical ninja 64 landscape).

i had this idea of using wings 3d to make like all the stuff for a game, but instead of making a 3D game with it, just making a 2D game with the 3D animations and stuff. i think it might work out PRETTY well if it was done right. but idk i've literally just opened it for the first time.... OCTOTOAD (octochode) hahahehehe...

actually this reminds me of a lot of PS1/N64 stuff with pre-made images for backgrounds and a weird looking out of place main character checking out the flat face of a photo-realistic mountain or something so just ignore that

this sounds excellent though! also octotoads rule

here is a 1950s greaser stereotype. who are the "skull crew"?? how can we stop their terrible advance.

edit: yeah hes like fortysomething its a lil movie called "grease" maybe check it out sometime??

also i tried to do ragnars head thing but it wouldn't work :(

haha even Super Mario 64 was full of this with the wet-dry world and the floating background image was just a scan from a travel brochure of Greece or something. There were one or two other ones that were just so vague because of the blurry texturemaps

man what a cool greaser. i'd love to be part of his "gang".

also today i did a tutorial and made a table (imo it was a pretty sturdy looking table) and i'm now moving on to the next steps of making my own objects and stuff. it's an exciting time and lots of fun (though i'm dreading trying out texturing... it sounds pretty complicated)

I really like your George Jones and Greaser models. They remind me of like a mash-up of Grim Fandango and really old AGS games.

made a m.o.d.o.k (mental organism designed only for killing)

in retrospect prolly should have added more faces so it didnt have that angular look but i just shifted around an octohedron as a base.

These are all really good dude. N64. I can imagine that skull ganger waving his arm to the player in really, really slow fashion (like in 3D Harvest Moons) and dialogue being "WHADDYA THINK YOU ARE DOING, MAX?! IF YOU MESS WITH OUR MESS THEN YOU'LL *nintendo censorship strikes, not DIE LIKE  THE REST like in original japanese translation*GET SCRAP'D LIKE THE REST! SPIT." also i think it looks good but consider doing that Mario 64 bomb-omb renderign on that ridicilous regent hair (so that it like gleams at the same spot from every angle (strange mix between metal and rubber?!))

but i think george jones is even MORE toward the direction of uh what mother 3 on N64 would had looked liked in my imagination. the gangster is just even more unique, hence no longer mother...
i really like the look of the knight though, i think the sloppiness and uh how the white lines doesn't even overlap owns. it could be a main hero in any game besides being an enemy. or an npc. idk
idk i think all of these are really good. i liked all of them. ya have found your true nature/soil/ground/talent ya fox...

I think Krang was based on Arnim Zola (also Kirby: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/107/310458175_49704e0ef8_o.jpg )

Trying to make some places now but idk can't really get the hang of thinking about locations in 3d!! i remade a tiny map thing from space funeral anyway

also speaking of kirby i forgot i meant to make a 3d version of one of his shrieking goon characters. i might try it later.

i do like how it affected the greaser! and the forest place ahaha. about 800 polys for each i guess. i'm gonna stick to lowpoly for practice though to get to grips with shape construction etc.

That did actually make it look quite nice. I'm wondering what to make in Low-Poly, can't really think of anything. Any suggestions?

Make all 151 original pokemon (I attempted this with lego when I was younger).
