I'm wondering about the pink halfmoons and white ears too, my vote is some sort of fine pate and a sliced puffball-like mushroom.

what's that bowl of pink & white sliced stuff
that along with the little brown guys above it are meat-substitute things, some friends brought it along as a gift for the hosts. They're out in the countryside so they don't often get meat-substitute things like that and were pretty excited about it(so was i cuz they were yummy)

Most of the meat substitutes I've tried (all animal names + MOCK in front of it) have been pretty bad and tasteless! But maybe they prepared it properly? I do love tofu and tempeh though. Particularly tempeh.

these things were pretty good. on their own they're probably pretty bland and tasteless but the farmers squeezed their own rapeseed oil and had all kinds of awesome spices to make them taste excellent.

Chinese meat substitutes are so much tastier than the ones you get in America at the store.  The ones here are all just soy or wheat gluten and usually heavily processed and shit.  Chinese vegetarian cuisine is a lil different cuz they make them out of things like yam flower and mushrooms but all the different spices and sauces make it delicious.  They use what gluten too but they are like experts at it so it's amazing.

My aunt uses soy curls: http://butlerfoods.com/products/soycurls.html She makes all kinds of chinese food with it (and other stuff too) and it has a decent texture, it actually kind of feels like chicken. I mean it feels a lot like chicken.

For my lunch today, I made myself a bento of baby carrots, green grapes, a few wheat thins with cheese and basmati rice with a thai seasoning mix on top.

Tbh I've really gotten into Indian/Sri Lankan cuisine after living with a few sub-continent housemates and you don't even need meat substitutes in that cuisine. Seriously do not miss it at all when I cook Indian food.

I made spaghetti and garlic bread a couple of nights ago. Boring but tasty:

I made goulash last night but I need to get a proper camera as phones make food look ugly.

Look, calling all Dada's: just WHAT can you do with rice? I was thinking how rice pudding (eg Risella) are damn good (okay so they put all that extra shit in stuff like that but it makes sense that u shuld be able to make good stuff with basic ingredients) and I got curious, like BASICALLY you COULD make it within "paleo frame" (several sw starts violently gagging) but you just have to make sure the rice is indeed peeled & cleaned and that there are no stains of other grains in it (why the heck make rice porridge if youre gonna write MIGHT INCLUDE STAINS OF X GRAINS huh??? its not rice!! celiacs burst into flames etc)... and then I thought that shit, japanese/eastern/chinese whoever should know what kinda stuff you can do from rice...! DADA should know what to do with rice...!

So like what CAN you do with rice to make wonders with it?? does dada or anyone know?? dada meticulously spends the next two posts about how to make glue from rice...

Tons of things you can do with it. Easiest is just to mix it with a vegetable wok with some binder like oyster sauce. You can try wrapping it in lotus leaves (available at the Chinese supermarket, they're huge so cut them in quarters first) and then steaming it, you can make paella, you can make risotto. You can make porridge if you cook it for very long.

I had a bunch of photos on my phone but then I changed the OS so they are gone now, regardless I'll dump a few things that I've made recently.
Irish Coffee:

In my next alcoholic adventure I may try my hand at a Pina Colada, mostly because I fucking love them.
