yeah uh it zooms in a lot and then slowly zooms out, that seemed obvious. idk if people fall asleep, that might have just been for FUN SCREEN SHOTS.
but uh yeah, notice how the text isn't ZOOMED IN, it is aliased or whatever for that zoom size jesus man are you dumb or what.
i dunno, he might just randomly name two people like that and they fall asleep. i think your guy falls asleep one time in ac:ww and he gets pissed off.

Two random people falling asleep would be a nice touch indeed.

I think it's just as likely that those people fell asleep because of Jigglypuff, though. I wouldn't just assume it's a Mr. Resetti thing just yet, though it would be pretty neat.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure I understand how Mr. Resetti is supposed to work.  Does he just crowd the screen like a Nintendog?  Does he put people to sleep?  I don't know.

But the image of him commenting about Pikachu and Kirby made me think that it would be great if he had some kind of conversation logic that allowed him to say different things about the match.  Commenting on who was winning, who was losing, or who was using the most items, or whatever else an AI could easily notice.  And then it was just interesting to read what he had to say.  So interesting, that he actually became a distraction to the fight because you want to read what he's saying.

Yeah I was thinking of something like that too. I mean the scoreboard in Pokemon Stadium displays the scores so there's no reason Mr. Resetti can't make comments. Also he could laugh and shit and make fun of them if someone dies or something.

If that's the case I would hope that once you open his trophy he stays around for the remainder of the match and just comments on everything.

What? Please don't ever post in this topic again. You will do the rest of this community a favor.

Technically, he is right though. It is a pretty useless update for the competitive Smash community since these trophy deals are random, and therefore banned in competitive smash anyways.

but on the non-competitive side it looks pretty awesome!

Remember in Melee, after you complete a versus battle and all the players get weird titles and point modifiers based on things they did?  Like Smash King, Marathon Man, Dead-Weight KO, Pacifist, and about 250 more.  Just have each of these titles translate to an interesting comment by Resetti that he can make when he's called upon.

For example, if someone is currently earning the title "Stalker" (Always attacked a particular player), then Resetti can have some stock Stalker comment to make.

yeah uh it zooms in a lot and then slowly zooms out, that seemed obvious. idk if people fall asleep, that might have just been for FUN SCREEN SHOTS.

HIS TEXT IS TIERED DOWN do you not have eyes or something?

I've thought about that. Think about Melee. If you're fighting someone (with names on) and you get close to them, causing the game to zoom in on you, your name still remains the same size as it did when the camera was zoomed out. I'm assuming the same thing happens here. When he speaks, the text box remains the same size regardless of how much the camera is zoomed in, so when you and your opponent are closer together, the text box automatically adjusts itself.

A lot of other games do things like this all the time. MMOs come to mind, and although they aren't the same type of game, I'm merely pointing it out to show that just because the text is adjusted to fit the screen doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be a forced zoom. Sakurai most likely did it to show detail, just like he does in all of the other screenshots. If it was something that happened every time Mr. Resetti was used, I'm sure he would have mentioned it. Why leave out a big detail like that?

I'm done talking about it though. I'm stubborn and so are the people I'm trying to argue with, so it's best to just stop. We'll know what he does for sure on December 3rd.

@Despain and Dapper Swindler: If he did any of the things you guys suggested, he'd definitely be a pretty badass AT. I just figured he'd have the same dialogue every time he was called, but I never noticed him saying Kirby and Pikachu's names. Thinking about it now, it seems pretty obvious that he'll have a bunch of different things to say, making him much more appealing.

Let me just ask an opinion question since I am curious.  Obviously, unique characters are better than clones.  But clones have some value right?  In your opinion, what is the quality ratio between clones and uniques.  For example, I would prefer six clones over one unique - how about you?

Unique characters are ALWAYS better. I would keep all the unique characters and not let any clones into the game if I had it my way.

Also this guy is awesome. I'm not sure if it zooms; it probably does but that's when he's introduced, so... Also it DOES look like he puts them to sleep. Cool  :fogetcool:

Anyone else notice that the Japanese website has different images?

It also seems like the dialogue box gets in the way and obstructs your view somewhat. I like the fact that he does this.

Also, with an AC stage and an AC assist trophy, do you guys think they'll be adding an AC character as well? They're limited to whom they could add though. K.K. Slider, Tom Nook, and Mr. Resetti are all out of the picture. I do think AC will get a playable representative, but who else could they make into a character?

A police guy, one of the visitors, etc. I don't think they will, though. Animal Crossing is about as unviolent as you can get.

Also that shot is after tt zooms back out, notice how it still isn't all the way zoomed out :).

Is Luigi a clone of Mario?

Not since the original. He has some similar basic moves but they've been working to distance him from Mario since the N64 version.

Haha, he basically was. Slightly different moves, but no moreso than Falco/Fox or Falcon/Gannondorf.

It's semantics.  It depends on the definition of "clone" whether or not Luigi was a clone.  A lot of his moves and animations were similar to Mario, and some were different.  But the difference between Mario and Luigi is much greater than, say, the difference between Fox and Falco.
