Not much actually. Almost everything else is different.

I think a lot of the hats are ugly and seem really lazy. I think the Snake one is really bad, and I couldn't quite point out why at first. But then I realized, the hair. It's not about the facial hair, it's about the mullet. Kirby needs snake hair.

I just read online (pardon me if it has been posted already), but apparently the reason a Capcom character (ie Mega Man) wasn't considered for Brawl is because Nintendo is still peeved at Capcom for taking the exclusivity of RE4 away from them.

I very seriously doubt that an entire corporation would hold a vendetta against another corporation like that.

Sarhan or anyone have any links to videos of people actually playing like they want to win in SSBB? Right now all the multiplayer gameplay videos I've seen has some pretty, umm, less than good players or people just screwing around.

Thank god, I was starting to think that there might be something wrong with the game mechanics or something. Can't wait till someone finds "advanced techniques" for SSBB.

EDIT:Wow, Lucas' PK Fire has awesome knockback. And the game mechanics look even more polished that Melee's.

EDIT2: I can't remember if it's been said before, but is L Cancelling, like, automatic now? The downtime after seems very short.

I am still hoping to see [Heavily Armored] Pokey making an appearance as the boss of New Pork City . I will be very disappointed if he doesn't make the cut... especially if characters like did.

L-cancelling was removed completely. It's only automatic on some attacks. Others still have long delay, such as Snake's back air. It depends on the move.

So I take it that L Canceling is an animation/ move/ recovery/ recoil cancel? If so... I'm glad I didn't play Smash Brothers that much.... because a change like that would have been a game breaker for me.

It stands for "lag cancel." Basically what you do is hit either L or R (or Z in SSB64) right as you land from an aerial attack. In SSB64, your lag was completely reduced, allowing you to attack instantly after landing. In Melee, that lag was only cut in half, but was still very useful for comboing and avoiding shield grabs after landing an aerial attack.

Just found a video showing gameplay between U.S. and Japan. There doesn't seem to be much lag at all.

I always thought it was called L canceling because you pressed the L BUTTON.

L-Cancel was also vital in some characters' gameplan, and you basically HAD to use it to have any chance of winning against anyone who had an idea of what he's doing. Link's dair is a crazy good move for example, but it lags for HOURS if you don't l-cancel it and it gets himself killed if used anywhere that whiffs.

I'd recommend watching all these videos to learn a few advanced techniques before the tournament. Some don't apply anymore (wavelanding, wavedashing, l-cancellingm shffling) but others (dashdancing, out-of-shields, teching, edge hogging/edge hopping and such) are still very useful techniques that are very good and easy to learn. I'd recommend watching match videos too but it's pretty useless now seeing as how everyone sucks more or less and nothing gamebreaking has been discovered just yet.

Yeah, those are pretty great!

This update was pretty good. I don't know how many people still go to the Dojo, but it's a list of a bunch of Assist Trophies with plenty of pictures. I know everything but the drill-girl and the blue thing.

Wow, a KuruKuruKururin reference?  I love that game but that's a really weird thing to throw in, I forget about that game most of the time unless I see something from it and then I go "OH YEAH THAT EXISTS".
