Misleading? It seems pretty direct to me.

Haha...so they've found a ghetto way to waveland in Brawl. Doesn't go as far as it did in Melee and the distance seems to be the same for each character, but it could still be used for spacing. Definitely doesn't look as useful as the WL in Melee, but it works:

Chainer, I meant without use of the Final Smash.

The part they're talking about is at the very bottom of the update.  It says you can do a special combo with the taunt D-pad to turn between ZSS and Samus.  The final smashes always do the transformation, but this is within the abilities of the player.

I don't think it's so bad that Samus can change between her two forms just like that in the middle of battle.  Sure, that makes her like Zelda/Shiek, but so what?  She's a two-in-one character, and this leaves the player's options more open (even if it's supposed to be trickier to pull off).

By the way you can't go from ZSS to Samus without Final Smash. No need to worry.

Are you sure?  The update sounded like it suggested you could do this anytime...

It’s not easy, but how awesome is it that you can make Samus coolly switch between two completely different fighting forms! Try it out next time you feel like showing off.

It may not be a one-way trip...does anybody have a video confirmation of it?

Like I said, that part isn't written as well as it can be. You can switch coolly between the two, between Samus to ZSS. First of all, thinking about it, it makes no sense for ZSS to go to Samus. Second of all, read over what it's talking about. It says WHAT IF YOU WANT TO PLAY AS ZSS????????? Then gives you two options, one being holding down the shield, the second being to do the taunt. It also says DOING THE TAUNT MAKES YOU SHED YOUR ARMOUR. Also people on Smash Boards have supposedly confirmed that it can't be used both ways. Yes, I checked the Smash boards just to prove my point.

I may be wrong, and if I am, this game is dumb.

I'm sorry, I just can't see how that could benefit anyone in a match?
Advance techs are cool and all, and if they make you better then sure, but I think people are getting a little obsessive trying to find glitches.

I agree with you about the AT thing, but this has the same applications as wavelanding did in Melee. WLing made Ganondorf a beast (I played against one of the best in the midwest and he ass-raped my Marth hard). It's basically used for spacing your attacks and to lure your opponent into attacking while being out of range. At first, it's not very useful, but once you get comfortable with it and can see good opportunities to use it, it becomes a very good technique.

ahahahahah, they actually want people to call this fucking "the craqwalk". yeah right!

Also I'm not really sure what's going on in that video?? It looks to me like he's just jumping forwards, landing, turning around, and then sliding with the momentum. If that's all it is, then I don't understand how this constitutes anything beyond BASIC MOVEMENT.

Going back to Samus, I'd rather beable to switch back and forth between her and ZSS without a smashball. It just doesn't seem well planned out to start with Samus going for Long Range attacks and then permanently switching to Close combat.

Actually he's short hopping, then airdodges at the very last moment in order to slide on the ground with the dodge's momentum. Edit: Looks like he HAS to turn around too otherwise it doesn't do anything. That's kinda weird. Gonna have to try that when DMC4 isn't kicking my ass.

Also Smash players can be retards sometimes and ever since someone named Wobbles's tactics as "wobbling" they try to name everything after themselves.

Wobbling was ground breaking for the ICs. It made them so much more powerful. I've pulled it off on my friends and taken them from 0 to death with just one grab. He deserves to have that named after him. It wasn't even named by him though. People named it after him in recognition for finding such a powerful technique.

All the people playing Brawl trying to find ATs are gay though. Some guy found that you can do a running attack with Falco right into an up smash from the animation and he called it DarkLink X Hit Cancel (DLX hit cancel for short). Horribe, horrible name. The guy who discovered this wants to call it "Craq walk" when it's clearly a waveland. Everyone's trying to go down in the smash history books for finding a new technique. They're trying way too hard.

Also, this is done differently than a normal waveland. You run, jump, DI backwards as you're about to land, and tap the control stick backwards quickly as you land.

Isn't this pretty much just a waveland done slightly differently?

Yup, but it was thought to be impossible in Brawl after changing the airdodging mechanics. It's also slower than Melee's waveland and each character seems to go the same distance upon landing.

Also, I suggest we use #capcom for matchmaking for tournaments. It's already dedicated to fighting games and there's a lot of us who are serious Smash players in there.

Plus, dedicated channels always die. Look at the DS wifi channel or FFXI or WoW channels, all dead. #capcom is more general and there's no point in creating a smash only room when it's just another fighting game (albeit an excellent one) in an ocean of fighting games.

That sounds fine with me.

By the way, I just found out that you can't spectate on "with friends" matches. That's going to suck for recording since only the people playing will be able to record. Oh well. I'll record all of my matches.

Just found some pretty cool videos that show off a bunch of characters and the things they can do. Olimar looks very interesting. Check them out.

Smash was made by Nintendo, last I checked. Not Capcom?

I think it would just feel weird for people like me start joining your Capcom subcommunity when I have no interest at all in those games. Maybe it's time to rename it to something more universal?

My local gamestop is getting a midnight release and also a tournament of sorts. Anybody know if your local game retailer is doing anything like this?
