reading the last page of this topic has reminded me...

i once read about "advanced techniques" on the ssb wiki like the canceling ones you are talking about and then i realized...

i don't really want to be that good at a videogame
I know how you feel.  Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of smash brothers, but I think there's a certain point at which one should draw the line.  All these advanced techniques and cutting things down to fractions of seconds timing...it's just too over the top for me.  Maybe it's more interesting to other people, but I think it's ridiculous to take something simple so far out.

Pretty nice update, knowing that the stage builder has additional parts to build with. Although, as a downside, Yoshi is still the worst character in any fighting game ever.

Sarhah, could we get that video? Sounds like an interesting new mechanic for Falcon.

Even Dan is better that.

I'm suprised that they made Yoshi a tiny bit better. His only recovery use to be his jump, but now he goes up a little bit when he does Up+B.

I am like that in a way. Though I did learn to wavedash, I never really learned to integrate it into my playing style.

That's the toughest part of using any advanced technique. It's the reason I almost gave up, but a friend of mine kept on practicing and I didn't want him to get better than me, so I practiced it too until I was able to use it effectively. Needless to say, I got my ass kicked many times while trying to integrate it into normal gameplay because of how often I messed up.

I would imagine that you can't, it wouldn't make sense.

Dunno if everyone knew about this already, but I didn't so I'll post it:

Apparently, DK's final smash kicks some serious ass. I had no idea about keeping beat with the pulses, so I was super disappointed with DK and had deemed him the worst FS in the game. Looks like I was wrong!

Oh, so the player has some control over it?  I guess that makes sense.  It did seem awfully wimpy when you just let it run its own course.

Yeah, I had heard about that. It looks good if you can use it right.

We already knew about this stage... It seems a little plain, and not really a fair stage to everyone, but whatever.

Well, seems like Luigi's Final smash is in fact pretty powerful.

Yeah, it doesn't seem so bad now that I understand what it does.  It'd still be nicer if, y'know, it had something to do with him being Luigi rather than a bad mushroom trip he had once.

And they didn't do anything with the Poltergust, either.  I sometimes wonder just how far they're willing to push their creativity.

AFJDKJFDSKFds. It's stupid!

I mean, I figured, HOW THE FUCK COULD THEY NOT DO THIS. They gave Mario his FLUDD, which PUSHES the enemies away, and made his cyclone a regular move... Okay. It would have been PERFECT to give Luigi the Poltergust, and make him SUCK IN ENEMIES. But now he still has the cyclone as a move. That's fucking ass.

And yeah Cheesy, you can't pause in online games.

They found a pretty cool new technique in Brawl. You can change your direction in midair with B moves. You used to be able to do it in Melee but only with a few characters. In Brawl you can do it with anyone plus you have much more control over your momentum. To do it, you have to be in the air facing one direction, use your B move, and quickly tap the control stick in the opposite direction.

Awesome! That's a very useful trick. I would try to do that in Melee several times but I'd end up doing my side B, and for characters like Luigi it's not preferred.

I know there hasn't been much activity on this topic in a while, but I thought I should post this:
http://www.gamestop.com/gs/ssbb/tournament/default.asp
Apparently Gamestop will be hosting midnight Smash Bros Brawl tournaments. (I know this was mentioned before, but I wasn't sure if it was confirmed)
They have a list of the stores that will be having this.

I know I will attempt to give a shot at this.
