great, the correct way to respond to an insulting +1 post is to make one yourself, ya
who cares what sarhan says, i think we've all learned in the last 14 pages (and the other 60 or whatever in the last topic) to just ignore him if he says something we disagree with!
Meh...I was going to say something, but I don't want so start shit so I'll keep my mouth shut.
I love when they announce another feature that tournament-only players don't get to use because it makes them more sour than usual, and I find that funny.
Dude...I've been to four tournaments in my whole life. Although I'm better than the average player and can hold my own against tourney players, it doesn't automatically make me a tourney-only player (and assuming so is ignorant). Over 99% of the time I've spent playing Smash is with my friends, who also happen to be casual players. Just because I prefer playing one on one matches with no items doesn't mean I don't play FFAs with items on high. Most of the time I've played Smash was spent doing FFAs or teams with items.
And FYI, I love the gooey bomb, franklin badge, bumper, superspicy curry, golden hammer, the new and improved beam sword, and especially the cracker launcher. I can't wait to test these items out and it's probably the second thing I'll do right after clearing out Subspace Emissary and unlocking a few characters. What a surprise! You guys seem to have this mindset that if someone prefers to play one way, they automatically hate everything else. Don't jump to conclusions.
The way I think it should and will work is this: the first piece has as good a chance as any item to show up, but, once it is collected, the other pieces fall soon afterwards. So it wouldn't take a really long match as you presume. I think you should hold back those tears until you can actually see how all these ideas play out.
That's a great idea and I hope that you're right. My gripe was this: with how many items there are in the game, you might not even see all of the parts during a regular match which usually takes only a couple of minutes. And you are right about me holding back my tears. I should take my own advice and not jump to conclusions.
But Sarhan, the way you put it in your post, you make it sound as if the game is getting worse rather than better. Maybe if you're more specific about what direction you think the game is taking, people will understand you better.
I never said it's getting worse but I can see how someone might come to that conclusion from what I've said. I like the direction the game is going in as a whole. I'm very satisfied with that. However, I don't like this item in particular because it doesn't seem practical unless you're doing long matches. It also influences the way people fight by focusing a players attention on collecting items rather than getting kills (and yeah, I understand you can get kills in the process). It's kind of like Powerstone (great game by the way...oh wait, that's an opinion...sorry Jester) in that sense. I understand I can just turn the item off if I want (which is why I love Smash) and I know it's a small detail, but it's still a slight annoyance and not something I'm looking forward to.
Now again, this is an opinion and from what we've learned from Jester, it should be ignored.
And guys...I'm probably the biggest fan of the Smash Bros. series and I'm willing to bet that I've easily clocked in more time with the game than most of you have (I was playing it about two hours ago at my girlfriend's house). If there's anyone that's looking forward to Brawl, it's me, but just because I love the series doesn't mean I can't be against a feature, item, or whatever else they throw in that I happen to dislike. Accepting everything doesn't show you love the game. It shows that you don't.
