well what i wanted was at the end of all this ironing out and minor updates they just released a big pack on xbox live with all of it in it. i hope they do go ahead and do that.

Valve said they were planning to update the 360 console versions (forgot theres a ps3 version, you poor souls), and since they haven't updated them at all so far, that leads me to begin they'll just do it as one, big, single (possibly only?) update. Even though $20 is dirt cheap, if they do the heavy update like the others, they'll have a free weekend of TF2 going for everyone interested. I highly suggest you try it out, if not on your PC, then maybe on a friend's. This game has convinced several of my friends to upgrade their PCs, and I can easily say it's definitely worth it.
I even have a few friends who prefer the PC version on their crappy computers over their 360s. I also got started on this game on console, and I'll say this about any console FPS: they're always better with keyboard and mouse.

Achievements have been revealed (not just names/logos, but the goals)

http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/kgb.htm

All of these are doable in pubs, and only 2 are unlikely to occur (Rasputin and Borscht Belt), and most are accumulative ones.  Looks like Valve learned how to make good achievements.  Oh, I forgot Photostroika...  Who taunts when Uber'd?  Anyways, I like these Accumulative achievements better than the "Kill x enemies withing x seconds" ones since these ones force you to play longer and actually learn to play the Heavy effectively.

these are pretty 'medic update'-esque grindfest/special event achievements.

There are a few easy ones like kill with a critpunch and shit but then theres ones like Photostroika that is near impossible in a normal game and tedious shit like get 50 payload caps and 20 kills with a medic without dying (which iirc is a medic achievement also).

All in all, these are gonna take a lot more time than the pyro ones and a lot less than the medic ones.

That's fine with me, medic one took too damn long, and pyro took me under 45 minutes. Something in between would definitely be favorable to me.

Edit:
Yes, I love these - "Show Trial: Kill an enemy with a taunt."

How cute Valve is trying to tote the pyro as dangerous in arena mode.  :)

B-but there's no water!!

The Scouts pistol is going to be his best friend for that mode and map.

But theres medics! Medics will be much more inclined to buff and spot heal their teammates. We'll see a lot less of medics permanently following one unit his whole life. What I'm worried about is how retarded people are about dealing with sentries, turret kills will be very sad events.

I don't think engineer will be too popular in the arena mode. If there are no points to defend from the enemy team then the engineer's job is greatly diminished. A good engineer might be able to squeeze a few kills unexpectedly the first time or so, but it won't work for long.

I don't know man, since the rounds are fast you can just ignore upgrading your sentries most of the time so you just spam the lvl1 sentries whenever the previous is destroyed and just hunt people with the wrench, at least I would.

Also dispenser sound pretty great to me in a map with limited powerups.

teleporters would be extremely useful as well if you could get two of them down

You could drop level 1 sentries all over, but that still requires 130 metal and an engineer without a sentry nearby is pretty much a free kill for any competent player. The sudden death game type would make the engineer's job incredibly difficult, but not impossible. Teleporters would also be a risky venture, as their primary purpose is to help people just spawning to get back into the action, but one life per teammate in arena mode means teleporters won't see too much use. I think by far a dispenser would be the most valuable tool in arena, but to assume that's absolutely true would be speaking too soon... Luckily engineer devices won't auto destruct in this game mode when he dies like they do in sudden death.

Anyway the last heavy update is now here, it's a sandwich like expected. I wouldn't miss the shotgun too much in exchange, but even the heavy's shotgun is vital in some situations.

Edit: Update is out have fun trying to actually get on the steam servers

It's called a bunch of faggots deciding to play TF2 again because of the new update. I guess Steam can only handle so many people trying to play the same game at once.

EDIT: I think they released the Sandvich page at 12 pm/noon/LUNCHTIME

EDIT EDIT: The Alpine pictures on the TF blog look like Medieve's art imo.
