I was going to rebutt the mainstream movie thing and say I ALSO LIKED and then had nothing in the past three years sooooo.

also I only knew it because ghostface sampled it in some intro song.

Really great movie! So far one of the best comic book movies ever I think, and by far better than the craphouse that was Spider-man 3. Robert Downey was really convincing and funny, and I was actually staring open-mouthed at some of the scenes, like the cool techno ones. The final battle was cool but a tiny bit anticlimactic, but after the credits... Great jesus.

Also steel the reason they look alike is because the makers behind the Ultimates comic line actually asked Samuel Jackson if they could use his likeness for this character, and he basically said 'fuck yes'. So not only was it a badass thing to do artistically but they were covered for the movies, too.

I didn't actually get to hear what Sam Jackson says, because as soon as he came into the shot, everyone in the theatre erupted in applause. And since I went to the midnight showing, of course EVERYONE there was a nerd and stayed till after the credits.

guys how major was the ghostface cameo?  i can't really see caring that much about like ONE SCENE where ghostface says a line and then leaves.  or, was he supposed to be a main character?

"'I am Iron Man'.  Mr. Stark, you aren't the only hero around here.  Let me tell you about the Avengers Initiative."

Not the exact quote but pretty close.

Yes.  It is currently the best film of this year and it's probably the best mainstream Hollywood film of the past 5 years.  I think a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes is a testament of its greatness but you always have that jackass or two that says "argumentum ad populum LOL"

most entertaining film i've watched in quite awhile.

RDJ makes a surprisingly good Tony Stark.

like i went "lol...rdj as tony stark? what?" at first, and went in expecting AT LEAST slightly worse than Spiderman 1 (which was so-so as a movie, but good for a superhero movie imo), and got something better than every superhero movie made in the last 5 years combined times 10.

it's so good that even if you don't like super-hero movies/iron-man i guarentee you will enjoy it.

edit: then again, technically Tony Stark isn't a super hero, since he has no actual super powers. super hero-esque then.

man he's fucking Nick Fury and he's talking about the Avengers how gay are you.

also one of the cooler things is how dialogue is a little SNAPPY/WITTY but also natural; people interrupt each other and don't get to finish their jokes or whatever. also it's kind of funny! a lot of it LOL HE FELL but yeah, it is funny.

This movie was absolutely brilliant.

Robert Downey, Jr. was absolutely perfect for the role and he played it perfectly.  The supporting cast is also top notch and fit perfectly into the movie.

The actual "Iron Man" scenes are some of the best special effects i've seen.  I couldn't tell the CGI from the ILM created robots that they used, i seriously spent the whole time trying to tell.  The whole movie made me want to build myself an Iron Man suit, I mean... it should be some what possible (besides the flying and AI)...

10% Thrust was one of the best parts of a movie ever and the Flame dowsing dialog that ensued was absolutely genius.

Fuck, any way - this movie is amazing, every one go see it, you will absolutely not be disappointed.

10/10

Obviously pretty gay! I just get tired of Samuel L Jackson playing Samuel L Jackson in every fucking movie. He's his own character. Not that Nick Fury isn't awesome (thank christ they didn't get the Hoff back), but I just hold a large quantity of hatred for Samuel L Jackson.

Sam Jackson is Nick Fury you punk!

The ending thing was still pretty gay, if only because I knew Tony was joining the Avengers in the movies anyways. Just kinda pointless.

Man DN that logic doesn't work at all! Would you consider Batman a superhero?

Also Tony Stark is pretty much a technological genius so I consider that a super power anyway.

ALSO also yeah 10% thrust was pretty awesome, I wasn't expecting that. I really liked his line "Yeah... I can fly", especially since we saw it in the trailer and it was executed pretty coolly.

Much against the hype, I thought this movie would have been torrid trash acting mingled with cheesy fight scenes, but I am glad to admit that I misjudged the movie completely. It was a very competent, if not quite incredible, take on a summer super hero film.
