well, its more of a case of us forgetting it not it taking long but w/e skematics! my point isn't that, "the customer is[n't] always right", its that some customers let it get to their head. and its not like its a restaurant where i respect their desire for good service and a good time. this is a fast food place! where you tlak to the cashier for two minutes as i punch in buttons. and its not like any of us ever gave them attitude, its that they give us shit for things which don't even matter and all we can do is say "oh i'm sorry let me fix that" as they yell at us as if we just slit Isaac son of Abraham's throat and poured the blood on their white linens.

I've never seen someone yell at a cashier.  Guess I just live in a mellow town.

When I was four I was eating some mcdonalds in my grandpa's truck while he was taking me to a little league game or something back when i liked there burgers and a HUGE bug hit the window and left a yellow smudge and my grandpa nudged and pointed and said "That's where mustard comes from." I stopped eating anythin with mustard for nearly two years. I laugh at it now but I gagged back then when I saw people eating it.

Yeah, uh... The customer is always right, is pretty much what you have to go by. Even if they're pricks. People don't come to restaurants, only to get attitude from the waiters or something. Sorry, but that's pretty important. Obviously there are exceptions but jesus christ I wouldn't wait 15 minutes for a soup at a half-fast food joint! That's pretty bad!

This one time I went to a fruit drink bar and this dick gave me a smaller size then what I paid for. He wouldn't exchange it, so I threw the drink at him and knocked down everything on the counter and ran away.

Yes, if the customer wants to plaster the clerk with Jamba Juice he damn well better be able to.

Umm... no it isn't. No company would make ANY profit if they wen't by that policy, because customers are like well 50:50 of cunts:normal people. Y know the kind of people that'll eat all a burger apart from one tiny crumb, then wrap a hair around that crumb to try an get a free burger.

This is basically what happened once. Some black lady ate half her sandwich and then came back to complain that there wasn't any cilantro or something like that. Even the manager got pissed. He made her another though but he came up to me and was like, "seriously? she ate most of it." but you have to deal with ppl like that.

this isn't like HORRIBLE SERVICE but I swear this story is true:

When I was like 5 years old, I bought a ribena carton from a corner shop, and pierced the straw hole. I struggled to get ANYTHING OUT so I blew harder and there was a fucking WORM IN THE CARTON. I didn't realise this until IT WAS IN MY MOUTH and holy shit was I scared. We got a refund etc but man would my parents have been able to sue for that shit or something.

There is a small town near my cottage that we pass through to get there, and occasionally when we are up at my cottage we head into said small town for a restaurant/greasy spoon/diner meal.

We went in there ten years ago or so (with some family friends, two girls around our age) and we (my family) made their orders. Then the girls made their orders. Their mom ordered vegetable soup to start, and they asked the waitress if the lasagna was a large enough portion for two (like 12 and 14) girls to share. The waitress replied emphatically yes. After about fifteen minutes, the waitress came back to our table and said to us "Fried Egg Sandwich?" and though she was waiting for us to claim it. Unfortunately, none of us had ordered the Fried Egg Sandwich. She repeated herself several times, getting louder and visibly more angry each time. We tried to explain that none of us ordered it, but she wasn't having that. Finally, after about the sixth time she raised her voice, a woman across the restaurant-diner thing called out "I ordered the Fried Egg Sandwich" and the waitress hurried off, giving us a dirty look, like it was our fault.

Flash forward to about ten minutes later, and our food arrives (including my undercooked hot dog). The mom's vegetable soup hasn't arrived, and neither has the lasagna. A couple minutes later, it arrives, cold. It is identical to canned vegetable soup. Like, impossibly similar soup. She eats it begrudgingly. After we're all done our meals and we've been there for close to an hour, the girls' lasagna arrives. It is a tiny metal dish (I would consider it a small portion for one person, never mind two), and it is filled with some badly burned cheesy substance which was probably part of something far more evil and not at all resembling lasagna. We don't eat it, and ask for the bill. The waitress explains incredibly rudely that it was rude of us to not eat the lasagna.

After we leave this horrible restaurant, we realize that they did not give us the "free coke glasses" we were promised for eating there. My brother runs back and gets them for us, and apparently the conversation was a pretty tense one! Needless to say, we never went back there.

As for fast food, I have had mostly OK service. Sometimes it is slow or they give me the wrong thing, but they have always been good about replacing it quickly and without any fuss. I honestly don't think I've ever been treated badly at a McDonalds. Burger King has treated me pretty shitty once or twice, and twice the KFC was out of chicken and Pizza Pizza (a semi-local pizza chain) was out of pizza, but other than those horrible slip-ups I have had good service. Actually, the day Pizza Pizza was out of (acceptable) pizza they offered me some really old, gross looking slices with weird toppings for a *reduced rate*. However, after some quick math, I realized that the *reduced rate* was actually only about fifteen cents cheaper than the regular rate for good slices! That is more quirky than bad service, though.

do you live in the south because bacon is a part of every diet.  i'm serious, they eat steak WRAPPED WITH BACON

He isn't kidding. Not ten minutes ago I ate leftovers from a carry-out my we did at Golden Coral (where you pay $4 per pound of food in a buffet where white people go to expand and die)... and there was a round cut of steak with a strip bacon wrapped around it. I had no idea what it was when I first peeled it off (the cooks are lazy and you have to constantly trim the fat off of everything).... but sure enough, it was a wet, gooey strip of bacon. You can't imagine the horror I felt when I first bit into it. This is on the same level of perversion as oreo pizza, pancake+sausage on a stick, fried candy bars, and The Monster Burger (1400 calorie burger at hardies).

Actually, there are things like shrimp wrapped with bacon that are quite good! If made badly they're gross I guess but otherwise it's a pretty pleasant taste, I think.

One time I went to Buffalo Wild Wings with one of my friends and two of his female friends. Our waiter was a douche, who did little else but hit on the two girls, who had boyfriends.

While he was doing this, every single time he came by our table, i'd ask him for a napkin. Every. Single. Time. And he would ALWAYS come back to spit terrible game at the girls, and completely neglect both the napkin, and my empty glass that had been sitting there the entire time. And it's not even like he came with nothing in hand; he refilled their sodas plenty of times.

I tipped him 9 cents on debit and for the signature, wrote down "NAPKIN"

Yeah, I loved San Andreas, but it was just such a black game. :x Like. Eh, I dunno, it was all so frickin' black, and I enjoyed the atmosphere of Vice City more.

hahah

maybe this isnt quite as related, but my housemate has a dog, and our other housemate hates picking up poo (like.. more than the average person). so one day, the poo-fearing housemate had to take the dog for a walk, and it pooed in front of a patio restaurant... so she felt obligated to pick it up.

only when she bent towards it to pick it up, she caught a whiff and puke all over it.....

im pretty sure the entire restaurant finished their mea right then and there.

...I don't see what that has to do with bad service at all.

But anyway, I never had any horrible experiences like drinking worms or eating cockroaches.
Although today, I asked for a Zinger at KFC and I asked them to hold back a bit on the mayonnaise. I specifically STRESSED I wanted mayonnaise but not too much (they usually put enough that it actually makes the bread all soggy and crap). So I grabbed it, took it home, and when I opened it, it had no mayonnaise at all, and the lettuce was more sparse than usual.
Slightly annoying but no biggy.

Actually, it's kind of lame.

At any rate:

Yeah...

This, very much so. I haven't had as nearly as bad service as any of you guys, aside from the occasional hairy armenian guy who works in McDonalds and sheds all over my food. (It is a good thing I hardly eat there).

Hahaha that's fantastic.

On the complete opposite tip, me and an ex were at a Chinese restaurant were the service was...too good? It's hard to say if it was good per se. They basically strived constantly to make sure everything was perfect. The waiter waited next to our table, and every time I took a mouthful of my drink he'd come over and refill it from the can. They came around every 5 minutes to make sure everything was okay, and that we were enjoying the food, and if we needed anything else.

It was really odd just having people constantly hovering around us.

Hahaha. From the sound of it he probably didn't even understand why you wrote that down.

There is this Chinese buffet near my house (they're a whole chain actual, Mandarin Restaurants) and whenever we go the service is really ridiculous, especially if it's not busy. You can always tell when they have too many people working, since you'll get two or three people constantly hovering around you refilling drinks and taking away old dishes BEFORE YOU'RE DONE WITH THEM. Like, I had some food on my plate and I leaned back to take a drink and stop stuffing my face for a second and the next thing I know some dude has swooped in and grabbed my plate full of food and tried to take it away. I put my hand over it and I struggle to swallow my drink before he makes off with my meal, so he leaves it. Then from there on out he never took my plates unless they were completely empty, like, bones picked absolutely clean, which is bad on the other end.

But I'd rather have people trying to help me out too much than not at all! In related news I was once in there on some off hours with friends and the table near us had a big group of bitchy, belligerent high school-aged girls who were giving the serving staff a lot of trouble for no reason. They were knocking over drinks and stuff at one point, I think, and refusing to pay. At one point, one of their servers (who was the same guy that had gotten drinks for us when we sat down) stormed past us muttering "stupid fucking bitches god dammit". Then a couple seconds (minutes?) he was back and helping us with a smile on his face. It was kind of a scary transformation!

I worked at a McD's for about 5 years, and I can tell you why you're getting crappy service:

1:  90% of the work force is below 20 Years Old (Teenagers)
2:  The people who are REALLY in charge are rarely there (Store Supervisor, Store Manager, Corporate Cuntbags, and Owner were there once a month or so)
3:  About 75% of managers are also Teenagers
4:  Almost everyone in my first point thinks "I'm not going to work here forever, why should I care" and they don't take the job seriously
5:  Most customers blame the wrong person (not all, but about 80% of people who bitched to me about something that was the kitchen crew's fault, blamed me)
6:  People tend to exaggerate their problems
-- I told someone it would be about 4 minutes on their chicken.  3 minutes later I run the sandwich out to them.  "Well it's about time.  I was waiting for 25 minutes.
7:  Almost all of the people who complain in point 5 and 6, talk down to the person they complain to.  I've been called retarded several times, and was told a quadriplegic animal could do my job better.  Seriously, people who work at fast food places do not need to be talked down to.  Most of them are Teens, and for most of them, it's their first real job (I don't count things like babysitting, or anything where you can get paid less then minimum wage legally)
8:  A lot of people who complain are also lying, and are just trying to get free food.  Which is why we have to give you the "run around".  I don't care who you are, if you have a complaint, I will assume you're lying unless I already know about it.

I mean, I understand people complaining about things like this when they actually have to wait too long, or get hair in their food, but please...  If you have a problem, stay calm and try to be polite about it.  Nice complainers usually get their shit handled quickly, where as the asshole complainers get ignored.

Oh and some black man came through Drive-Thru one morning at 7 am with his kids, and he told his kids quite loudly to "Shut the fuck up".  The manager was offended by his language, and asked him politely to not use that language.  He came in and started bitching at the manager for about 2 hours...  seriously, I had to work 6 am to 2 pm, and he was inside from about 7:30 to almost 10:00.

The stories of "customers being assholes" are always a better read than stories of "there's hair in my burger again"
