You know parasun, I'm gay as well, and I understand where you're coming from. I fell for tatu hard when their stuff hit the UK. I ignored the weird stuff, somewhere in the back of my head explaining it off as 'oh, they're foreign. They're just different.' I've always liked Yulia's voice as well, and I often enjoy foreign accents in vocals. But the bad far outweighs the good by now, and you've got to understand why people are responding this way. They pretended to be gay, they made an anti-abortion video. You should be far more surprised to find no one giving a damn.
What they do during a performance really has nothing to do with the content of the song.
My point here was that they indeed pretended to be lesbians, which you disagreed with.
Anyway, you seem to be getting mad at me. I'm not trying to anger anyone here, so I apologize for that. Let's just agree to disagree. I just hope people's opinions in my interests don't necessarily reflect their opinions on me.
You're the one who mocked my manner of speaking, if you recall. I've got every right to be angry at you for conveniently forgetting arguments and so blatantly switching tactics from agressive to pitiful. Personally, I don't care if you like tatu - I don't really care what people listen to, and I generally don't judge them by it. However, the way you're acting here is annoying to say the least.
that does a great deal of harm, because not only does it carry the covert suggestion that just like Tatu, most gays are faking and just want attention, but that the best way to approach gay rights is through oversexualizing women all over again.
this wasn't a step towards gay rights, it was a backslide and pretty embarassing at that.
This is a very good point. Not to mention that horrible notion some people have that gay people (mostly lesbians) can 'go straight', and will do so given the opportunity. At one of the earliest support groups for homosexuals I went to, quite a few women had stories to tell of male friends and strangers forcing themselves upon them. It's apparently rather common. Wasn't that russian girl a lesbian before..?
