Every 'big' mainstream artist has something to do with someone at a record company and yes I know they have their own company but that doesn't mean they are fully and utterly independent.

please inform us about jessica simpsons creativity and talent ok

I never said a record company wasn't involved. I just pointed out that one didn't completely fabricate the idea as you ignorantly assumed, and I also never said they were fully independent. No musician is. And how can you even begin to compare them to Jessica Simpson? :blarg:

Yes, I know they got rid of Ivan when they came out as not being lesbian lovers - they said this whole scheme was his idea. Â And if you think they weren't pushing the lesbian image in anything but ya soshla sma... Dear, you might as well stop posting right now, because you don't know very much about tatu.
It's a very common idea amongst pro-choice people. It's saying that anti-abortion essentially gives the woman no power over what's happening inside her, no control over her own body. I'm not going to debate this further, we all know it wouldn't be worth it especially here.

edit: sorry for any confusion, this reply was intended for parasun.

Well, DEAR, their are songs that dealt with 'forbidden love' or 'love without boundries' but they weren't necessarily gay. They also sang Malchik Gay, a song about a girl falling in love with a boy who was gay. Were there anymore, because you seem to know more than me.

And as for the whole abortion thing, I agree with you guys. I really dont like it, but it is a statement only found in the music video on Yulia's part. Yulia even had an abortion in her younger days... She has given birth to two children and that has obviously changed her mind now. Maybe the experience of giving life has done something to her. It isn't as though she has gone 100% conservative. She is still bisexual. And don't forget, they are RUSSIAN. They don't even look at these issues the same way Americans do. There were more abortions in Russia last year then there were births. Russia's population is declining super fast. Maybe these things influence her opinions. She isn't trying to make abortions illegal or anything. She is just trying to tell people not to abuse the right they have.

Mainly because Jessica Simpson is another HORRIBLE artist who I'm sure if you twisted your opinion you could attempt to convince me is good, her dad is her manager lol surely he gives her some say into what music she makes, i hear she writes her own songs lol.

Anyway gunna duck out of this pointless arguement because no matter what you say its universally accepted that TATU are a joke, in the same way that Aqua, Eifell 65 and the Vengaboys are a joke. Take Aquarius out of the cd player k thx

tatu is easily my favorite pop act (probably next to justin timberlake), but i wasn't really into white robe all like that. their newer song, "220", is really cool though. the production on their albums has always been top fucking notch, and i'm really looking forward to their next release (in august i think).

but anywho, i wasn't into the video for white robe. its too damn dark and somewhat depressing to look at. i always liked their happy songs. i guess when you have a fanbase that adores 15 year old girls, you shouldn't start making songs about abortion..

they get really carried away with a lot of questionable ideas, but as long as the music is good, i'm gonna listen to it. then again, i'm the kind of person who doesn't care about the persons involved in music, nor do i let my own opinions on the individuals personally affect how much i like the way their music sounds.

I guess you're right. The only good bands are the ones YOU like, after all... if you would have told me that before we could have saved a whole lot of time...

the problem is you aren't really saying anything. he's at least expressing the opinion the vast majority of people agree with. if you're going to make the case that Tatu has some integrity or merit despite being a sellout band that used an alternative sexual lifestyle as an impact and now to atone for it made a music video about ABORTION=MURDER, you have to actually make the case, not just say "ignore all that other stuff".

I know it's horrible how this forum is trending towards the actual discussion of music instead of hollow approvals and disapprovals.

This same site has many galleries with pictures of them open-mouth kissing, touching each other sexually, and one of their later gigs where they get in lesbian sexual positions on stage. Warning that there is some nudity in some of the galleries, and one of them has pictures of them in wet clothing when they were under age.

Not to mention that their first album was entitled "200km/h in the wrong lane", which would have been fantastic were they actually gay. To deny the fact that they pretended to be lesbians and call yourself a fan... Please stop replying, this is getting embarrassing. I think I'm going to stop at this point as well, I've already spent far too long posting in this thread.

What they do during a performance really has nothing to do with the content of the song. They pretended to butt fuck during Malchik Gay.
Anyway, you seem to be getting mad at me. I'm not trying to anger anyone here, so I apologize for that. Let's just agree to disagree. I just hope people's opinions in my interests don't necessarily reflect their opinions on me.

Did you seriously say that to me? I am seriously offended by that. What is your problem? I hope you were just kidding, but even if you were you deserve a warning for that. That is probably the rudest, most homophobic thing anyone has ever said to me here... and I seem to be pretty well disliked as it is.

I found it funny... the nudity was a cheap trick, but I'm a sucker for that stuff. I think it shocked the fans most of all. We all expected Yulia to be the one showing tit, but not Lena. She is the more conservative one of the group.

Why do you have to be such a jerk? I agreed with you on one thing (the nudity) and you try to make me feel stupid. What is wrong with you people that you have to be so fucking rude?

well if you went into the VG forum and started gushing about BMXXX and the great politics behind it, even the nerds in there would rip into you.

It's like coming to a hiphop forum and gushing over Nellyville or going to a Metal forum and gushing over P.O.D.

You get the point. It's generally accepted as BAD.

I really have no fucking idea what you're doing. like, this is one of the most unlikeable bands ever and you thought it was a good idea to make a topic about the fact that they're attempting to recreate their flash in the pan by adding nudity and abortion messages? ANTI-abortion messages, no less?

sb's obviously joking (and I really found his comment out of line) but seriously what is this? JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU LOL well about a thousand bands release singles a week, and so far all you've done is say "well I like them so" rather than talk about why.

I came here to share something I genuinely liked, hoping to find a few others who shared my interests... Not everyone alive has the same negative opinions on tatu as you do, so I thought I had the right. I feel really naive that I didn't expect so much hatred and disrespect not only for tatu but for me too.

If I had went into details as to why I like tatu I thought they would be picked apart and used to call me stupid.

So let's see what happens...

I found out about tatu when I was younger, about 16. It was when they first hit the us. That was a very hard time for me, having to deal with my true feelings about being gay in the hellish south. It was probably the most painful period in my life so far. This may sound completely asinine to others, but their music gave me something to relate to. Aside from that, I liked the music. The fact that two girls would stand up and fearlessly kiss each other in front of the world and not be booed off stage gave me strength, I guess. I did turn on them when I found out they weren't really in love, but I eventually figured that they did more good than harm. They brought homosexuality into the mainstream music world. Yulia is bisexual, btw.

Aside from all that... I love Yulia’s voice. No one else on earth has a voice like she does. It's rough, husky, and sweet all in one. Lena’s voice is soft and complements Yulia’s better than anyone else’s ever could. And I like their thick accents. I like their style. It all boils down to personal taste…

thats the thing dude, they did it for MONEY. how do you view that as a positive step at all? you know if it was two men they would have been booed off stage. they did it because people are scum and want to see that shit, not because they were really advancing gay rights. that does a great deal of harm, because not only does it carry the covert suggestion that just like Tatu, most gays are faking and just want attention, but that the best way to approach gay rights is through oversexualizing women all over again.

this wasn't a step towards gay rights, it was a backslide and pretty embarassing at that.

You know parasun, I'm gay as well, and I understand where you're coming from. I fell for tatu hard when their stuff hit the UK. I ignored the weird stuff, somewhere in the back of my head explaining it off as 'oh, they're foreign. They're just different.' I've always liked Yulia's voice as well, and I often enjoy foreign accents in vocals. But the bad far outweighs the good by now, and you've got to understand why people are responding this way. They pretended to be gay, they made an anti-abortion video. You should be far more surprised to find no one giving a damn.

My point here was that they indeed pretended to be lesbians, which you disagreed with.

You're the one who mocked my manner of speaking, if you recall. I've got every right to be angry at you for conveniently forgetting arguments and so blatantly switching tactics from agressive to pitiful. Personally, I don't care if you like tatu - I don't really care what people listen to, and I generally don't judge them by it. However, the way you're acting here is annoying to say the least.

This is a very good point. Not to mention that horrible notion some people have that gay people (mostly lesbians) can 'go straight', and will do so given the opportunity. At one of the earliest support groups for homosexuals I went to, quite a few women had stories to tell of male friends and strangers forcing themselves upon them. It's apparently rather common. Wasn't that russian girl a lesbian before..?

I can see where you are coming from now, but I never saw it that way. Maybe I am too optimistic towards them. I still feel as though more good came from it then bad... that is just me... let's leave it at that. I don't want to argue anymore.

...You're the one who mocked my manner of speaking, if you recall. I've got every right to be angry at you for conveniently forgetting arguments and so blatantly switching tactics from agressive to pitiful...   ...However, the way you're acting here is annoying to say the least...

I did mock you, and I apologize, but I didn't start it. Your reply to me before was extremely condescending... first, you implied I knew nothing about tatu and went on to tell me i was embarrassing myself for trying to defend one of my favorite bands... You also called me 'Dear' which kind of sounded as though you were trying to make yourself seem superior to me. All I did was call you 'dear' back. You also annoyed me, so were even ;)

And you think I 'switched tactics' by trying to act pitiful? I really didn't mean it that way. I was hardly anywhere NEAR as aggressive as ANYONE ELSE was towards me... anyone can look back and see that. I did talk down to a few people, but it was only in return, and again, I'm sorry. I only stopped and apologized because I was trying to cool down the arguments. And I wasn't targeting you alone in my previous post, either. Don't tell me I deserved to be talked down to the way I was. I had a blatant slur thrown at me for Christ's sake... i didn't start anything.

I have already made my apology and I was accused of trying to act pitiful... if we could have a decent argument about tatu WITHOUT degradingg each other in the process that would be cool.
