whoa, just watched the new weezer single called "pork and beans" on youtube:

so they took a bunch of 'youtube heroes' and made a video about it.. I didn't get some of them (the rainbow socked girl?) but jesus, this is just combining a bunch of shitty internet memes and putting them together into one video. Not that I lost any respect for Weezer (they're not all that great, but they have some alright songs imo) I think the video's kinda interesting and it'll get them a lot of internet attention (i'm not sure if it'll be positive or negative), but oh god why

also, I do think it's pretty smart on their part since they catered to their (previous?) audience, which is pretty much a bunch of nerds (though with the last album (which was really bad) I think they gained more mainstream popularity... so I'm not sure about this whole thing).

wow. They've gotten real shit. I like a lot of their older material, but this is all awful.

Would I be wrong in saying, based on this song, that they're trying to cross over and get some of mainstream hip hop's audience? Cash cow.

Ahahaha this is horrible. I kind of like Weezer's first two albums, Blue and Pinkerton, but not because I think it is GOOD MUSIC, but more because it is fun and kind of stupid and reminds me of when I was a kid. Everything after those two albums are pretty much unlistenable and the music video for this song is horrible.

Ahaha, man, wow. That is awful.

I saw this yesterday and was horrified. I even posted a comment saying "I fucking hate the internet" and got 1000 thumbs down from all the other viewers. FUCKING INTERNET I TELL YA.
Basically this is gonna be huge on the y-tube of course so they succeeded there. Everyone is salivating over this shit even though the song is a real step back. I like their older stuff, too! Kind of a disappointment for me.

I did, however, like the appearance of "the Duck Donald" (doctorlegua's vid) towards the end. That made my day.

This is so shit and the video is even worse. Did they seriously contact all these internet 'stars' and get them to lip sync their song? That's like paying people to do what they did for free anyway :/

i think the problem that some people don't realise is that rivers cuomo is dead stupid. i used to listen to this band, i even liked pinkerton a lot and listened to it a lot for a while. back then i guess i was about 15, and while i realised the lyrics were terrible i thought he was being like, ironic and quirky. i don't think this anymore, he's just a stupid guy with an east asian fetish who has written some catchy songs.

and some of those songs on pinkerton were damn catchy, but no way could i tolerate more than one of them nowadays. and it looks like he's just gotten worse with age.

I liked/still like some old Weezer. I think its just that alot of their stuff is really lighthearted and catchy, not like most of the mygirfriendleftmeIamsosa crap that comes out now.

This song is pretty horrid though, I'll probably still download it just to see if there are any tolerable ones on the album but I'm not expecting anything good.

But then again "Beverly Hills" was pretty shit too though and I managed to find a few songs I could listen to on that album.

I loved this video. The song is eh.

What makes it so bad? You know if this helps anyone it's the youtubers, its not like THE HUGE CORPORATE BEAST WEEZER IS EATING YOUTUBERS. Do you even know that Weezer paid them to be in it? Cause I guarantee if Chef was asked to be in Weezer's video for Barkley he would.
I won't even bother defending their new music as I'm not a fan, but obviously there are a few people who don't understand the music industry.

I also like that Tay Zonday was mentioned, though he "sold out" to Dr. Pepper.
