Then you've never had the need to - with only the mouse - get to the top or bottom of a page very quickly. That and it's great for setting a long article to slowly scroll down while you read it. I can't count on my fingers the amount of times I've done this. It makes great for reclining back in your chair while still having flexible control over the page.
the thing i hate about that argument is: if your hand is on your mouse, chances are it is also less than 8 inches away from the "page up, page down, home and end" keys. Pressing "End" is MUCH faster than clicking the middle mouse button (which is an event unto itself. I cannot see how anyone can use this "button" it is horrible and 1/3 of the time i dont click it right anyway because the wheel rolls or something stupid) and then moving the arrows to the bottom of the page.
so it is faster to just lift your hand and press "End" (which after a few hours of practice you can do with your eyes closed in a lightning fucking second.
I think the amount of apparent hostility in here is pretty hilarious from both sides. this browser has been released for a day now and people are like "wow this sucks [site] doesnt work, im using something else!" because you should be amazed at how fucking incredible this ALPHA 0.0.0.1 RELEASE or whatever the fuck this is.
I think HL is going a little overboard defending it, but he's totally right. All the complaints so far are extremely minor, and childish (BUT WHERE IS MY SPECIAL PAGE THAT SHOWS 20 PAGES AT ONCE?!!?) but I mean, this is an internet browser and so those claims are
valid. if someone is saying they don't want to use chrome and will instead use Opera, hey man more power to you, opera is a fine browser and i commend you on using such a great product. if you are ditching chrome for ie6, we have a problem.
I think google chrome is really nice and I'm going to keep using it. Protection from memory leaks is a big deal for me, someone who leaves a single instance of firefox open for a week or more and has experienced memory leaks in firefox AND opera. I can't even count the times firefox has been open for a mere 24 hours and sitting with 1 tab at Google its using 300+ MB of memory. This sort of thing will NEVER HAPPEN with chrome, because each tab is its' own process. I love the idea and hope all the minor annoyances in chrome will go away with future releases.
