those are legitimate complaints for sure. Flash working is like NECESSARY and if it doesn't thats retarded. I watched Iron Man last night on megavideo or something and it worked flawlessly, including youtube and a bunch of porn sites, so I wouldn't say thats Chrome's fault so much as something on your computer.

i said "apparent" because its not hostile in here at all everyone just seems slightly aggravated in a funny way.

i havent played games with it in the background so i dunno about that last one but if so that is terrible!

Edit: HL do you know about everything you're talking about, or are you just reading off stuff from the fantabulous comic.
be more specific because most of what HL said was answers to questions that were answered in the comic. A few others can be answered by TRYING what these people say you can't do "I cant duplicate a tab!" "yes you can click "duplicate"" "oh but its a new window!" "well drag it to the rest". I mean stuff like that I figured out almost instantly because, being a computer nerd, i try stuff like that, just because. other people are not inclined to do so.

and the rest of the stuff HL said was quoted from the EULA so please be more specific Nitro Crate in what you are referring to because if you haven't picked up on it I'm pretty sure you are an idiot.

btw they changed the EULA

As of 2 p.m. PT, it looks like the terms have changed. Section 11 now reads simply: "11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services."

yeah chances are pretty good they just copy+pasted an EULA from another product.

also if you guys didnt already know, that clause is in most of their "Services" right now anyway, including gmail, blogger, youtube, docs, etc. If you are concerned about that clause, better stop using ALL of google's services.

That's what I'm thinking but I freshly installed chrome and freshly installed flash player and it WORKS but any page with flash will make chrome main process use 90%+ of cpu time which causes the whole thing to grind to a halt

Pretty bad.

HOLY SHIT I just noticed you can resize text input boxes on the fly. Just drag the lower right corner thing. That's so cool.

no theres a gray square now that is in <textarea> elements that will let you resize them. the functionality you are referring to the long gray bar on the bottom of the textarea.

yeah its not terribly useful for the majority of textboxes, however if you happen to run into a site where the box is abnormally small, you can resize it. limited usefulness, but still kinda cool.

[edit] also if you guys haven't noticed chrome renders amazingly fast, equal to if not faster than opera (ive never seen a browser render as fast as opera. well until now obviously) and it has a wicked fast javascript engine.

DOES THIS BETA SHIP WITH THE NEW GOOGLE VM OR WHAT?

this seems like something google is doing because they've got too much time on their hands and some of the best programmers in the world. i can't imagine any monetary gain for them aside from encouraging internet use and downloading ads quicker, so it's pretty frickin amazing that they'd write their own java virtual machine

if you are referring to GoogleGears, then well that is not a VM at all. Otherwise what are you talking about???

the thing i hate about that argument is: if your hand is on your mouse, chances are it is also less than 8 inches away from the "page up, page down, home and end" keys. Pressing "End" is MUCH faster than clicking the middle mouse button (which is an event unto itself. I cannot see how anyone can use this "button" it is horrible and 1/3 of the time i dont click it right anyway because the wheel rolls or something stupid) and then moving the arrows to the bottom of the page.

so it is faster to just lift your hand and press "End" (which after a few hours of practice you can do with your eyes closed in a lightning fucking second.

I know it's faster to just press END but with the middle button I can make the page automatically scroll down slowly so I can read at the same time I do something else, and it is Impossible to do this with the keyboard.
Play Raimond Ex (if you haven't already)

I'll not TAKE ANYTHING you write like this seriously because it looks dumb

ugh just the v8 engine apparently

i read the comic and i thought they were writing their own java virtual machine, but they've made a new javascript virtual machine.

i don't care about this anymore, i'll wait until it's not in beta to switch (i use ie7 for compatibility even though it's a little slow)

yes that is a more legitimate claim than using it for "scrolling to the bottom really fast". i've done that before, set it scroll slowly but constantly. my reading pace is not nearly steady enough for that to work but that is totally legitimate.

i just noticed that the popup you get when you have a new PM asking to open in a new window, if you press "OK" it doesn't open the window/tab.

does anyone else appreciate that the icon looks like a cross between the windows logo and simon?

This is late but Mateui there's a stop button to the right of the omnibar (hah) when a page is loading. It turns into an arrow button when nothing's loading. It's positions a little awkwardly but it works just fine.

Also Mark, if it is using up a lot of your CPU, try disabling the malware & phishing site protection. It's probably streaming all that stuff while you're playing, I unchecked it and it uses FAR less ram for me (not that it's really noticeable cause I don't have it open while playing other games but w/e)
