I'm probably going to buy this mainly because it reminds me of old fashion shooters like DOOM where you just run around and shoot things except in third person, its kind of refreshing in an odd way. The story does seem somewhat forgettable though, even if it's premise is unique(been a long time since i saw a character who actually knew he was a game hero).

Wait what, this is out? Every site says 3rd March and I haven't seen this being sold anywhere. I seriously think this game could be good if it's consistently funny and the gameplay isn't too repetitive but there are no reviews of the game out yet so I wanna read about it before I buy it.

3rd march in yurope.

matt hazard is this famous hero who's been going strong since the 80s.  at the turn of the century he wanted creative control over a video game... and it bombed, putting his company out of business.  ten years later, some big business mogul buys the company and relaunches the hazard franchise but what matt doesn't know is that the "PLOT TWEEST" kills him off permanently in the first level and replaces him with a new hero STINGER SNIPERSHOT (who's also a shaved head futuristic beefcake with an austrian accent).  some hacker from the real world hacks the game and replaces stinger's code with hazard's so he can continue playing but the company soon finds out and it turns into a battle between game programmers and hacker as they completely tear down the walls of the video game and fuck with things around you.

it's hard to explain how the character's actually work because hazard isn't a REAL human but everyone he interacts with is.  i guess you can liken it to tron or digimon where data can assume the same properties as matter and if said data is erased then the character is gone forever.

Still doesn't make sense since IGN also says 3rd March and videogamesplus.ca has it listed as 3rd March. And I find it really weird that there are no reviews if the game is already out. If you already managed to get it, some shop probably started selling it too early or something.

yeah I think DS is right. also do game reviewers get preview copies? I thought they did. does this mean it's a bad sign when a reviewer doesn't get a preview copy like it does with movies? From Justin to Kelly had no prerelease viewing for the reason critics would hate it.

well gamestop/eb games had it listed for the 23rd and it's available in all of their stores so... ign is wrong?

and yeah, there are no reviews probably because either they didn't send out review copies or they're too busy playing street fighter 4/resident evil 5/halo wars (probably the former)

I think it's a good idea for a game, but it's just too fucking generic looking to be of any interest.

Has anyone played this yet? I saw it at bestbuy, but wasn't convinced it's anything better than a rental.

I hear it's a decent rental, which is a shame because I wished this game did better.

However, checking some youtube vids, it really doesn't look all that good. Doesn't look all that bad either, though.

Picked this up, but im stuck...  I've been stuck for a couple days now...

Where the Soak 'em guys are attacking and Sting Sniperscope is trying to snipe you.  It's a long hallway and every section it Giant Box, Computer, Giant Box in a row

Anyways, I keep getting to the last row of these.  I always get shot here.  Either because he shoots through the cover, or the cover-to-cover system gets retarded and make me cover on the side of the computer thing, instead of the front.

I've liked it so far though

I picked this game up at launch.

The game itself handles decently, but there was so much room for improvement in gameplay that I've been turned off from picking up this title and playing it through again. For one, it seems as if 90% of the bullets you fire are blanks because they don't do dick all to any of your enemies. For two, the cover-to-cover system is a neat idea, but it isn't very well executed. I quit using it after the first couple of levels because I would point at cover and Matt would sort of head in that general direction and hide right in front of the enemies who were actively firing at me. For three, THE GAME LAGS. I shit you not. I don't know if this is done on purpose (IE making fun of lagging games) or if it was just accidental, but there is no reason why a game, whose graphics look somewhat dated, should lag! ESPECIALLY when Matt makes the most amusing of comments about the frame rate if you stand still long enough.

The humor in it was low-brow, but I'm not going to lie and say that I didn't enjoy it. I liked that the game was poking fun at video gaming in general (for some reason I found it hilarious to pick off Space Marines with my trusty Water Pistol, which seemed to be the most accurate weapon in the game). Matt Hazard's generic 'manly bad-ass voice' was a bit grating at times, but NPH stepped up to the plate and did an awesome job, which made me smile. The ridiculousness of the whole game made it worthwhile to play, but there are so many other games out there now that pull off over-the-shoulder-shooter style gameplay without lagging. Honestly, though, it is worth a rental, if only to laugh at it.
Check it out! I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year!
