Dead Rising had half-good survivor interaction, iirc.

Though mostly it was either rescue/try to rescue/escort while they help/kill because they're crazy

But, what else can you do with survivors anyway?

Though I guess DR is pretty sandboxy. In a case like this, I guess they'd be teammates or something..

there should be people saying IM OUT OF HERE *runs to escape pod, leaves you behind because you a scrub*

which brings up another weird plot point; like three chapters are devoted to escaping the ship via shuttle but there are four escape pods in the bridge room. how come you dont just use one of those? I mean there are reasons that make sense (asteroid field etc) but it would be nice to have gotten those reasons.

also fuck that asteroid shooting section, I hated that part. it wasn't fun!

I switched to the mouse for that asteroid shooting part and it was a lot easier. It seemed kinda juvenile for that to be in a game like Dead Space, though.

Someone brought this up on GameSpot:

Also, your girlfriend would've had the sense to tell you EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON. Think about it: if you're trapped on a ship while everyone around you is getting ripped to shreds and turned inside out being morphed into mutant zombie creatures, YOU'RE GOING TO TELL SOMEONE ABOUT IT.

I don't think you'd be vague and be all, "Oh, I can't believe what's happening..."

Didn't think about that before, but it's pretty dumb now that I think about it - even if it's just a goodbye and not a request for help.

Pidgey: They didn't have thrusters/jump drives.

Every escape pod would have them, otherwise what's the point? Instead of dying in the ship for whatever reason, you can drift into deep space and crash into the first asteroid you see? I doubt it.

GOING BACK TO AN ORIGINAL POINT I'm pretty sure that the part was just... shock value like I DON'T THINK THERE IS MEANT TO BE MUCH SENSE YOU CAN MAKE OUT OF IT. Like I think the developers would've just been like "hmmm what would be cool I KNOW" and chucked it in. Like I think it is worthless trying to figure out HOW it happened.

Just my 2 cents. :)

All that time spent with making the Nicole character could've been spent making more Monster designs so the last three chapters ain't same old same old.
A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

man you know what I really want to see in a horror game was this awful VISION that came to me. you see what looks like a corpse when it suddenly gets up. it makes this really gross glottal sound, like it's choking on something, as it walks towards you. then it finally opens it's mouth and there's just this HUGE EYE inside, filling everything, pushing up and out of the mouth, and then its eyes are of course little mouths.

I post this because Dead Space reminded me of it and I want someone to use it, it sounds gross.

that's a cool idea. i have lots of ideas for horror stuff. i've got a good horror story about people staring at you from far away but that eyes inside a mouth thing might be good for people laughing at you with wide mouths to reveal another eye cos their laughter is glaring right at you. i'm gonna get to work tonight all right

also i'm still thinking i want to get this game. even if it kind of falls apart in the end, i like scary things and i like space. is it too dumb? i can't really tell from these posts but it seems quite dumb.

also despite all my bitching this is seriously one of the better games for 360 and from what I've played one of the best of 08. it's flawed which is why it won't be on any GREATEST OF ALL TIME list but it's definitely a good rental at the least. if you are good enough yeah you could probably beat it in one rental too.

ive got good ideas too

- inside a monster is a smaller monster, with another one inside of it, and another in that one, and so on. like a babushka doll.
- monster who looks like a ghost but is actually a skeleton
- a monster with a halloween pumpkin head
- monster who tells you about the current economy.......... just a bitt of topical humour for ya ;)
- skeleton of a monster
- you look in the mirror and there's a monster behind you!! nope its all a dream
- a monster who pulls out his eyes and throws them at you; they bounce like balls
- you go to get a gun and there's a monster hiding behind it
- monster with skeleton arms
- monsters on fire
- this monster jumps around because he has a spring for legs
- monster thats a mummy

If you remove the eye things, it sounds very VERY similar to the polymorph from red dwarf.

Yeah, it's 'Game of the Year' for me. It's kinda depressing because in any other year I wouldn't really say it would deserve it, but there you go. A few fan mods could make this potentially FAR superior (remove the unskippable YOUR STUPID THIS IS WHAT TO DO tutorials/nicole/etc)

Well then do what we used to do in videogames BEFORE we had a GPS system, EXPLORE and find some more things to kill.
Im not sure its bugged i think you might be missing something

I just saw this now, but seriously dude? Did you not see that I screened the exact location of where the GPS lead to? I had already killed what was there and it just didn't register, so I had to revert to an old save because I couldn't advance in the game.  And uh, I also looked it up and found out that a few other people had the same exact problem (the poison pod dying but still releasing poisonous gas). Exploring was the first thing I did, so I'm not sure why you'd suggest something that obvious.

Anyway, it was definitely a bug because I played through the game again and it didn't happen that time because I killed the poison pods in the correct order (instead of killing them as I discovered them). Not sure why it's so hard to believe that there could be a bug.

What? 2008 has been an amazing year for gaming. LittleBigPlanet, MGS4, Soul Calibur 4, Fallout 3, Dead Space, GTA4, Mirror's Edge, Fable 2, new Rock Band and Guitar Hero games, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, the list goes on and on. That's just off the top of my head and not including portable titles like Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, and others. Even if your tastes in gaming are vastly different than mine, I don't see how you'd be "settling" for Dead Space as a Game of the Year choice.

yeah its a good game and I'd rank it over all the ones you listed but the whole ANY OTHER YEAR thing is weird, sarevok loves like TF2 and Left 4 Dead and shit, there were all these major releases, and I'm the asshole who doesn't like games, not him.

altho I would say MGS4 and SC4 kinda sucked hard! suck on my solid snake.

I don't have any consoles (except Wii, and Wii is utter shit for proper single player games). So that entire list is reduced to Fo3/Dead Space, and I like DS more. I do actually have FFTA2 and I thought it was just exactly the same as the previous title and got pretty bored with it pretty quickly.

Also steel TF2 came out more than a year ago, and I am hesitant to brand L4D as game of the year because of the extremely limited map selection. There's only 4 maps (I don't care if you say there's actually 20, there's really only 4), and only 2 in versus. I'm already incredibly bored of the maps and I've only had the game for 5 days.

There's been a lot of 'good' PC titles this year, but nothing which I'd deem 'fantastic' or 'memorable' really. DS is cool but nobody will be talking about it in a month, the same for Fo3 if they don't hurry up and release the bloody mod tools (and for free). Anything prior to this...well look around. Nobody's talking about them.

Oh, well at least get a 360 dude, they are cheap as hell and you're missing out on a ton of awesome games without that or a PS3. Saying Dead Space is "game of the year" out of like 3 games isn't saying much.

there's been more than 3 games on pc this year btw.

Also I don't enjoy consoles and I don't have a TV so I am not going to buy one 'because they're cheap'
