Saw Coraline in 3D today on a date. I didn't really think much of it other than the parents that took their young child to see it are probably regretting it considering it ran out screaming. I got in for free cause her mate works there so I can't really complain. The first 3D movie I've seen. I think I prefer my movies flat given that the bridge of my nose doesn't take to kindly to wearing 2 sets of glasses (one for distance).

She went home early at 9pm to watch 90210. Emo date fail :D

I think I am gonna give up cinema for a while. It's too expensive normally and they are pumping out proper shite at the moment.

Ahhh, gotcha.  Yeah, I made this account...a long time ago (a few years at least).  Yeah, my username sucks, for sure.  I actually wouldn't mind changing it, but as far as I know there's not really a way to do that.  Either way, it doesn't really matter, because I tend to check this site about once a month, and I post even less.

EDIT:  Almost five years, forgot that it said under my user when I joined.
nah don't sweat it brah

Just saw Star Trek last night, the whole time I was watching it(Was pretty good overall) I was just reminded of Mass Effect. Also what was up with the light shine everywhere.

Yeah, Star Trek was great, actually (I liked it, considering I know absolutely nothing about the series or its billion spinoffs; admittedly the only reason I went is because I'm a huge Lost fan, and Zachary Quinto is pretty cool too).

Just saw Slumdog Millionaire for the first time the other night.  I'm a little perplexed as to how it won quite so many awards, but it was definitely a very well-done movie.  I also loved the irrelevant dance scene in the credits.  From now on, I want all of my serious dramas/Oscar movies to have dance-y credit scenes.

yea I don't see how you could have gotten a Mass Effect feel out of it since it.  The ship wasn't nearly as dark as Mass Effect and there were not really any planetary scenes depicting similarities to the game at all.  I did get a Battle Star Galactica feel from the way the movie was filmed/edited though.

Alot of the designs and costumes, what not reminded me of Mass Effect, and that bar scene/set as well. Plus Ive never seen anything from Star Trek and have no idea what was supposed to be what.. Except that stupid hand sign.

I was also heavily reminded of Mass Effect, I'm surprised there are others thinking this too. The big scale battle at the end sort of reminded me, and the costume design when they went down to the drill reaaaaaaaaaaally gave me a ME vibe.

So I watched Drag Me to Hell and going in I was kinda like "meh" (I only went to see it because my sister wanted to) but then once I noticed Sam Raimi actually directed (and wrote) it I got super excited (I had originally thought his company Ghost House Pictures had just produced it).

I really liked it, it was like a throwback to his older stuff and I got all giggly and nerdy about it.  Having said that, if you aren't a fan of old school Sam Raimi you will likely HATE this movie as it's pretty much pure camp from beginning to end.  Could have used a Bruce Campbell cameo though.

The last movie I watched was Up, and I enjoyed it immensely.  I haven't seen a movie that both made me incredibly sad and laugh out loud in a long time.  I was pretty choked up at the start (especially since I went with my wife, who is 5 months pregnant with our first child).

I loved Dug the dog - he had some of the best lines.

I had my little one in my lap, telling me to stop crying. I bawled. THANK YOU PIXAR FOR MAKING A KID'S MOVIE THAT MAKES GROWN-UPS CRY. Holy hell.

Anyway, The Hangover stars a bunch of actors from TV shows I don't watch in a comedy about what happens in Vegas after the copious consumption of . In all fairness, I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of this movie except some raunchy humor and the typical bro-mance comedy centered around a bachelor party in Vegas. What I got was an entertaining film that had me laughing pretty well all the way through it. Between the tiger, the baby, the naked Chinese man and Mike Tyson, I was thoroughly entertained. I don't really recall any parts where it dragged on needlessly, and I was OK with accepting the over-the-top antics simply because the nature of the movie. Honestly, this has to be one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while. Stop reading this thread right now, find an open theatre and go see this film. It's awesome.

And while you're at the theatre, do yourself a favor: Avoid Land of the Lost. It wasn't funny, I wasn't incredibly entertained, and Will Ferrell managed to discover a new manner in which to irritate his audience. I will admit it was cool to see Ferrell playing lefty banjo and I LOVED Spock's cameo, but the rest of the movie was just bad. I don't even think I could recommend a rental on this one.

Hey I didn't mind Land of the Lost! I think it was horribly mismarketed is its main problem, but it definitely had me laughing at least a few times. The crystal singing and the crab in the desert were pretty good. I mean as a movie it wasn't SUPER FLASH HOT but there definitely laughs to be had out of it; it's just your average Will Ferrell movie but set in a strange world.

I loved the Hangover but after I thought about it, I realized that I didn't laugh at anything that didn't involve Zach Galifinakis. The guy with a missing tooth just seemed really irritating throughout the whole movie.

Taking of Palma 1 2 3. It was "aight." I enjoyed it, but I probably won't ever want to see it again, though. Travolta's character was kind of cartoonish.

Drag Me to Hell was mutha-effin' amazing! I love that movie. I have to see it again sometime.

watched Taxi Driver last night.  took me a long time to really get into the movie as it does have a sort of rather slow pace to it, but the ending and build-up to it was just epic, especially starting at the part where Foster's character was introduced.

Is that the one with Queen Latifah?

EDIT:
Ah, the one with De Niro.

And somehow my imdb'ing led me to reading Don Bluth's bio and now I want to watch The Secret of NIMH.  I think I have it on beta...
