Leaving Las Vegas which had some clichéd ideas and felt pretty long winded.  There's parts and ideas of it I do like though, oddly I quite enjoyed Nicolas Cage's performance which is something I'd never say in anything else I've seen with him in it.

Well I mean, that is one of the few roles that nicholas cage has actually won an award for.  And I think it is probably one of the few movies that I actually really liked that he was in.  I think people forget that Nicholas Cage in the right role can actually end up not ruining the movie, and can actually be pretty decent.  Leaving Las Vegas is a movie that I really like actually, and think that its a really good presentation of a character piece, and a look at the workings of an unhinged Nicolas Cage.

Strong Nick Cage is weird cos he was pretty cool for a couple of years early on in the 90's but has just totally lost his mind (and all his money.....)

has anyone one seen the bad lieutenant that came out last year with nick cage in it?  It is thankfully different from a lot of the things that he has done in recent years, and reminds me a lot of the way that he was in the 90s.  Also he was decent enough to not ruin Kick-ass too.

I think he would of ruin kick ass if it wasn't for the little girl who played hitgirl.... she was amazing.

I only know of 2 films he was good in and that is National Treasure and Gone in 60 Seconds. Anything else he was absolute shit in... But mind you I only seen about 5 or 6 films with him in it.

I love Nic Cage in pretty much everything.  Even awful movies are saved by watching Cage.

Thank goodness.  He sure knows how to pick his franchises.  I'm sure it'll suck, but I'm also sure I'll enjoy watching him.

Inception.  Love love loved it.

A second time.

Yesterday went to see Stonewall Uprising, a documentary on the Stonewall Riots and the treatment of gays and lesbians in the '60s. It was fascinating yet horrifying- the whole film was over before I knew it- but I'm glad I didn't live back then. I'm also very grateful for all the hard work people have done to get gay rights to where they are today, though  the fight's still not over. . .
I recommend it highly.

did none of you see Raising Arizona? Nick Cage was surprisingly well cast in that movie (well, it IS the Coen Brothers...). Funny movie.

he's the sort of actor that appears to feel right at home playing phenomenally dim characters. but nowadays they keep throwing him in TAKE-CHARGE LEADING MAN types. he never should have graduated beyond those fringe eccentric characters.

i agree. i always thought he was awesome in con-air if only because he seems to be this dumb hick who has no idea what is really going on and is running around fighting and shit. it's almost kind of parallel to the entire movie which imo is better focused on john malkovich* and even john cusack

i can answer that in a short sentence:  malkovich malkovich malkovich, malkovich malkovich.

edit: i never thought until now how weird this scene would be out of context.  i really wonder what you would think this movie is about if you didn't know already and you just saw this clip:

someone who's not seen it, tell me what you think the plot of this film is by watching this clip
