well there was the designated driver example above but apart from that sometimes there'll be a situation where you desperately need a car and the only one available is a manual.

trust me it happens.

Yeah that's the thing sometimes I got into the WRONG gear because I don't really know the gears off by heart but it's becoming less common now because I've had a bit more practice.

My driving instructor said you can practice on your playstation you know with the steering wheel and brake pads and play a racing game like gran turismo, has anyone tried it? Does it work?

One thing I forgot to ask after the test and the examiner asks you to drive back and if you make a mistake or a big mistake will it count towards your mark?

All right, I've been in and around the transportation industry since I can recall. Never have I ever had a driver instructor tell me to play a video game to get the feel for a car and that, right there, is enough to concern me. Couple that with the lack of 'defensive driver' commentary and I'd be on th hunt for a new driving instructor. The best way to get comfortable with our car is to drive the damned thing.

As far as I can recall, the ENTIRE trip, from when you start the vehicle to when you shut it off, is your road test so I would imagine that anything you do wrong is going to count, no matter at what point you're at. If you're asked early on to turn around and go back it may be an indication that you screwed up.
Check it out! I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year!

I'm Filipino, so I always check 'asian' even though most of us think we're Pacific Islanders. But if they don't have the 'asian' box (they generally do), I check hispanic. Fricking Spanish people sailing over and raping our people.

well its not that big a deal since the Philippines is basically Asia's Mexico

Are you from Russia or something? I've heard that in Russia and other eastern European countries with corrupt governments, you basically have to bribe officials to get anything done. Need a license? Bribe. Need a building permit? Bribe. Get stopped by the cops because they're low on cash and don't need a reason? Bribe. It has become the modus operandi de facto.
indonesia actually, but same system yeah

Yeah this better be a joke. Kinda like saying "practice shooting mannequins in the head before you take it to the schoolyard."

Man not to get suddenly philosophical but the best thing about learning how to drive stick is that you feel way more in tune with your car, and so more in control.

you got a loose definition of philosophy pal; see you at thanksgiving.
