i have my music on my phone. it doesn't sound great but i'm of the school that as long as i have the option to listen to it, than i enjoy it. i mostly listen in the car or at my computer anyway, and in my car i use cds. my speakers are blown out in my car, but i still have it and THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS.

also my sister just got the 16 gb ipod touch and i called her a stupid-ass consumer whore because she could've spent LESS and gotten 120 gb but she REALLY WANTED THE STUPID GIMMICK.

Yeah man, I went out the other week and bought a 120 gig iPod Classic and my friends were absolutely flabbergasted as to why I'd wasted money on a CLASSIC and not gone for the latest iPod Nano which was $100 more and only 16 gigs! Some of my friends are ridiculously dumb. I mean I wanted an mp3 player with lots of storage and that was the easiest option but when I explained this they were like BUT IT'S UGLY... THE NANO IS SMALL. Heaven forbid they try to convince me to buy a Touch!

I have the touch, and considering my small collection of music, it's great.  It's handy to have to check my email and other stuff instead of waiting for my laptop to load up.  Also Katamari Damacy on the iPod touch is pretty awesome.

But yeah, if you have gigs and gigs of music, the classics are way more useful than the nano or touch.

Uh is it UNREASONABLE to suspect Microsoft is going to immediately debug this and release a firmware update?

I mean, it's not a big deal now since this didn't actually BRICK the units. It's just a pretty hilarious bug and a HUGE MISTAKE but one that I'm sure is readily fixable.

The word is that it's because of the leap year, so Dec 31 doesn't exist according to the Zune. The articles might have said that, idk I didn't read them.

That said, it's hilarious.

Why does a music player need to know what the fuck the date is

My NES will work a thousand years for now solely on the basis that it doesn't give a shit whether it's 1990 or 2390

maybe Zunes have developed humanlike apocalypse theories and decide to off themselves on whatever date they've decided is the end of the world

Edit: Even if it's an updating thing why they need an internal clock, doesn't Winamp update on its own (or tell you about updates) and doesn't freak out at certain dates?

How old what the software. the one on the disk is v1.0, and blows, but v3.1 is relatively nice.

1.0

3.1

The thing I hate about the Zune software is that it can't play the music off of your device. Or at least in version 2 it can't (for some reason mine won't update to version 3 so I'm stuck with version 2).

I was thinking about it and accounting for a leap year is like...the type of thing you'd have in a programming assignment where the teacher doesn't tell you to remember leap years and you're supposed to be clever enough and you get counted off for not remembering it and get like...some bonus points because only two people in the class seemed to remember it.

If you're working for microsoft on a program that will run on a device used by that many people, you should be one of those two people.

I seriously beg to differ. I've never used the zune app but itunes is frustrating and slow. I'd avoid it like the plague if I didn't happen to have an ipod, and am thusly a SLAVE to apple. But everything about the interface is slow and clunky and being selective about what music you want on your ipod is counter intuitive and the library system is retarded sometimes.

What OS were you running it on?  I've found that on my Mac iTunes runs really well and I really like it, but on any windows machine I've ever used on it it was terrible and unusable.  I don't know if it's because of them trying to get you to switch or just bad code but iTunes on a Mac is a LOT nicer, and a p. nice program most of the time.

all of the windows versions of mac programs are shit. and basically apple people just say "well why aren't you running it on a mac" which is bullshit because as far as i know, the mac ports of say, office, are competent ports and not slow pieces of shit.

Yeah, I've only tried it on XP and Vista. There's a mac in my house but I never use it (old G4) so I'm not sure.

Yeah it's pretty shit that they do that, I'm just saying that iTunes isn't shit, it's just shit on Windows.
