Thanks a lot man, skarik! I didn't expected someone would draw it for me. Now I can better my artist skill from your example!

I was thinking about that and did it the dumb way by making the front and back part (farther away) separate to layer them later!

This is what I am working on. Best followed elsewhere, same place as my future tutorials on Lite-C.

that's pretty sweet dude, but I thought you gave up on lite-c : O
If an image says a thousand words, and a video shows 24 images each second, then why couldn't they condense everything I needed to learn at school into one hour long video :V

hahaha that was so fucking great.  did you record the cat sounds yourself?  very good, except the repetition at the end.  i'm guessing it's one of those "mash the button" survival ordeals?
keep posting...

Very nice Sanosuke, I really like hoe everything is turning out.
Rei- that was awesome! I specially like how the cat grabs the building at the end. congratulations!

@Rei-: My cat was sitting on my lap as I was watching your video and she really got freaked out by those cat noises. Good work! :)

@Rei- : The atmosphere reminds me of Samurai Champloo and Fooly Cooly with a cyberpunk feel.

@Sanosuke: Is your game similar to .Hack series? There's a lot of elements from all your previous screenshots in other post that is put together, so I didn't expect that.

@Cray : I love the snow tileset. Reminds me of my favorite holiday. The snow looks so yummy! Though I feel sorry for the girl to be out there. Plus, that navigating symbol / compass is awesomely drawn.

What I have been working on yesterday and today:

>.<  I should really save it png next time.

Notes: I should really change the grass to look more flatter or else there's a funny looking pattern going on   lol

Thanks busterblade, I'm glad you like it!
I think your screens look a bit flat, but that might just be your style, which is allright. But I really think you have to tone down the grass and tree color, it's too... MSpaint green. try to lower the opacity of it, or making it a bit darker, it would be much more pleasing to the eye :)
I love to see people using custom graphics by the way, it inmediately attracts me to the game.

I always hated slamming my character into cavern walls looking for the paths. I've added some transparent arrows which animate letting you know where the exits are in areas where you might find yourself lost!

By the way can someone unban me? I rather not post with this stupid account but I'm left with little choice.

Wow... Great stuff, everybody! I love this thread. It really makes me wish I was in high school again and had the time and motivation to use RPG Maker.

@Rei: That looks so damn epic. The chipset you're using is very cool.

@Supra: Looks fantastic. I like your maps and chipset a lot. I've never been a fan of those big face things above messages though. I think they get in the way. It's just my preference, but I prefer standard facesets.

@ Supra: I think those facesets are good and they don't get in the way because they are small enough.

The magic of Cray's advice:

lol, I do use MS paint as the base for everything and edit on photoshop later

I'm sort of with busterblade, Vincep. I think the portraits are small enough to not be annoying. I've took that in consideration before as I'm not fond of excessively large facesets as well. Also, I don't have problem with facesets in general but I usually try to eliminate any sort of trait that can easily be associated with Rpg Maker.

@Busterblade

I think that park looks better now. I personally like to fill up maps as much as possible as I'm not too fond of open spaces. I think you should make it your goal to add content to your maps while applying logical placement (don't just throw stuff in your map). I don't know what engine you're using but even with a large resolution there are tricks you can use to make your maps more smaller and neater. I'll try and follow up on that idea in a bit!

@Cray

I was always a fan of Lost King. I'm especially liking the diversity of the maps. You've managed to make everything look cohesive in unity as well. You could probably be a little more creative with the names of locations but that's hardly an issue. The snow town looks very nice, as well as the other maps, can not comment too much here.

I think the world map's menu looks really really dull. I have issues with creating menus sometimes as well but I honestly think it wouldn't be hard at all to make something more visually appealing - Especially because it's a small box.

@Rei

I've been keeping an eye on this game for a while. I haven't realised you've released a demo. I'll check it out since I think you do a lot of fun things with rpg maker! There aren't many people who break out of the stiff limitations of the engine, but I can safely say that you are one of those people.

@Cray: Thanks man.
@BB: yeah it is similar in a way in that you have 2 aspects of gameplay. A game within a game and the "real world" where you can browse through pics, zoom, slideshow/ listen to music/ browse the net/ play the "game"/ and then "hack" which will let you go crazy in the game world...build your own weapons and play with it or create a summon monster...though this will have consequences. But you will need to "hack" to discover the mysteries of the "game" world.

thanks guys.

@Cray: I really like those shots, but the cliffs in the Glacial Peak need to be recoloured or something, since right now it looks like you took a regular chipset and just recoloured the ground white, which isn't enough to convey that "snowy peak" feel. Try adding snowbanks or drifts and buildups of snow on the rocks to make it look like they're actually part of the scene.

@Sanosuke: You need to define some of those lines. Right now, everything is starting to blend together. If you had any road that was the same colour (or so) as the rooves it would be very hard to maintain perspective. Otherwise, looking interesting.

mm Maybe I could edit the cliffs and make them look a bit more blue or gray, you're right. I'll try to fix it.

@Rockman: That location is pretty unique. What is that white part on the sides of the stairs? Snow? Water? It seems kind of off unless I can identify that.
